Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi philiphoney
That is for a MY14 limited with quadra lift, the order was put in in January and I was told as it was a factory build they would order the MY14 but I didn't have to haggle with dealers they put my offer out there and the dealers submitted their quotes, as I said I went to the car yards first and asked for best price etc and then sent a request through private fleet and 4.5K difference for free, I am retired so I have no financial interest in the company

Thanks Captain. It was all in jest but nice to see you offerring support, and Iboughtajeep, I have not had my car for two days. It has been in "Theatre"
since 8.00am on Monday. All work has been completed and being kept in intensive care overnight for all "curing" processes to take place properly.
Re-uniting around 8.00am Wednesay morning and taking her for a ride to Benalla and return which will give her about a 400Km return "running in" trip. Will be trying out some of the dials/features tomorrow. Seriously though, have laid out a lot of money for these facelifts. I have noted comments historically on this site for and against these procedures. Even today, I was in at a "car" shop and the guy behind the counter said, "your're joking" this $40 dollar bottle would do the same thing and you apply it yourself". I am aware of those comments. I had a choice....do all the protection immediately whilst the car does not have "one single blemish" or start driving it around and risking wear & tear marks while I procrastinate whether to "do or not".
I have elected to just blow the money. Its the end of the financial year. With log book use I can claim approx. 90% of all costs and a lot of this "facelift" work should be able to be claimed immediately. Even tomorrows drive is a legitimate log book claim. "Green & Grow" nursery in Benalla and meeting up with Blackspur Nursery as well for lunch and to discuss business matters over a lovely lunch before returning home. As mentioned earlier....3M film extensively including A pillars and across rim of roof, Nano protection to paintwork, glass nano work (including pano), leather, carpet protection (remember, I have gone with the Light frost interior) and wheel trim nano protection which prevents brake dust settling and eating into trims etc. Now this is full blown protection and not cheap but cannot see the point in doing it piecemeal over time as lots of minor marks/blemishes, chips, bird poop etc will occur. Here's hoping. Will try and give an appraisal in due course.
I still dont feel anyone here or elsewhere needs to justify their purchase or the cost of their purchase. Im all for looking after things, I applaud you for trying something which will make your ride go the distance. I grew up in a household where the 1978 Kingswood was our 1 and only ride till 1996. It never missed a beat in 18 years, and even after it was sold (to a family friend), it did an additional trip around Australia in 12 mths. If only todays cars were that reliable. We no longer have lead in paint, hence we now turn to 3M films etc, and before anyone jumps on my back, i do know there were other health reasons as to why we no longer use lead in paint, although newer paints are never going to be as good as the lead containing ones.

I think its great we have a forum to discuss our rides, the good the bad and the ugly. Just dont justify to me or anyone as to why you have spent more $$$ on your ride. Its your money, do with it as you wish. The same goes with costs of cars. some will pay more than others, at the end of the day, accept what you have paid.

Lets all enjoy the JGC we have all waited so long for!

Great point, But at the end of the day a thousand or even up to a few thousand difference is a lot of money in this day and age and if you can save it by asking around I reckon go for it!

Nice Frad. You're number 2 off the rank. Congrats.

White again though... why white. Genuine question... everyone wants white. Why?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

That's jumping the shark if I've ever known it.

I thought it was because you guys when you were little blokes either wanted to drive big diggers or be taxi drivers and since you can't get a big orange thing with a front loader attached then, the next best choice was the taxi.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

There is a rumour circulating that Webber has placed an order for a MY16 Grand Cherokee, and will start a new set of threads concerning the purchase and delivery expectations. The car will be named Persistence

I was shown a salesman's 2013 with a nudge bar fitted and he had to keep the sensors off or go mad.
Thanks!

Webber, make sure you add the 3M treatment on your insurance policy. This will ensure it is replaced should the worst happen to the car.

Make sure everything's noted.. Even the smallest add on

I Missed the window tint on the tarago a few years ago and got rear ended and smashed the window. Car come back all smick except the back window wasn't re tinted. Whilst they knew it was pre accident nrma said insurance only fix/replace what's clearly on the policy, and they weren't even picking up the tab
