Did a test drive with them a month ago, left my details and they said they would contact me when the 14 was due or pricing confirmed. Told them I was a cash buyer for a limited. No contact since then, now I find out they are having a launch of the 14 on 4th July. No tickets are available, all committed for. Another example of poor customer service.

My Big Red has finally reached Curtis Bay at 6.18am this morning (Saturday).
In a "Constructive Placement bay" whatever that is.

Lets hope theyre really Constructive and Place her on the first available Wallenius Wilhelmsen vessel for Downunder.

Bluey.

Awesome news, and don't mean to dampen the mood your in, but mine sat there for over 2 weeks, and missed 2 boats. Maybe someone was busy driving it?...

I am planning a white car myself and am thinking about the 3M film but don't know the answer to the question above. I do know that the factory applied small pieces of clear film just in front of the rear wheels on older cars do exhibit a black line around the edges of the film.

Also, did the 3M film get applied on the lower removable portion of the front bumper? If so did it get applied in one piece or two pieces, ie, a piece for the lower removable bumper part and another piece for the main front bumper or was it in one piece for the whole bumper (lower removable bumper and main bumper)? Just in case you go off-roading and need to remove the lower fornt bumper you'd want the film as a two piece.

Someone has to be the martyr here so I have set myself up as the guinea pig for all you guys.... The process has been around for a long time. If you believe what you read on the internet it is used on high performance cars, helicopter blades. Armed forces vehicles in desert situations like Afganistan etc. for its protective qualities against abrasive forces. But at the end of the day I am just a guy having a mid-life crisis with a beautiful young plaything.....and we know how that can get you into trouble.

I will certainly post any experiences on this site but in the meantime I have "cut and pasted" your question in an email to the detailer who applied this film to my car for his response and will let you know. Let's see what he has to say about your questions including all the pieces at the front of the car.
At the front of the car When I checked on the process I arrived late to only see the smaller pieces being applied but on the table nearby....and I did post pictures of the film "computer cut-outs" the film came in panel sections for the front of the car, ie, seperate pieces for rear mirrors, headlights, A pillars, across roof, Bonnet, front fascia, lower fascia. etc. I am confident they are all seperate so should just be removable BUT do not accept my word for that until I get a response.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just back from first drive at night. Country roads, lots of bendy stuff.

Headlights are outstanding. Auto switch between high and normal beam just perfect although husband did comment a couple times and say that he would have perhaps hit normal beam a bit sooner than the vehicle did. No complaints though - it's really really outstanding.

Ambient lighting is great. Child paired his iPad also with no issues. Everything is so intuitive. Child's play so to speak.

Blind-spot indicator went off when we were reversing out of a friends drive-way which is interesting. The vehicle that it detected was on the opposite side but the driveway was on a bend and the car approaching in the opposite direction obviously fell into the BS monitoring line of sight. Very good.

Noticed this morning (and we specificially went to look for it) that there was some slight fogging on the lamps. It disappeared as the day went on though.

Husband is currently tracking kms/tank. We think at this stage we could possibly get 900kms out of a full tank. Will see but that's what we are tracking like at the moment.

I cannot say enough just how much of a joy it is to drive and also just be a passenger in.
Am in love with a car for the first time in my life (and that includes friends Ferrari. )

(Edited for typo - looking at 900km on a tank NOT 700km! Amazing compared to our '07 JGC 5.7 Hemi)

3M Film Unlikely to get the opportunity tomorrow as working again but hopefully on Monday will deliberately take pictures of film with light hitting the vehicle on the right angles to show the film lines for all to see. Hopefully you can help out again Bluey?

He also said he had a problem with the climate control, where although both sides had been set to the same temp, one side of the car was cold while the other hot. May be a problem with this particular car.
AllyPally, we have tested this over the last couple of days. (It's been bloody cold here). Both sides set - both sides heat. Change one - change happened. Both sides set again - all good. Could be a problem with his vehicle. All is good on ours.

Did notice on Friday morning - temp about 4 degrees when I took child to school and I didn't touch anything at all - so basically factory settings, that the steering wheel and both driver and front passenger seats heated up. It got a bit too hot actually but because you can't change via a knob quickly when you are driving (like our WK GC) I had to to wait until parked to deal to it through the touchscreen.

long range fuel tank installed - crd
Thanks for posting that thread. It has got me thinking - if there's room for a tank, wouldn't that also mean that there's room for a dual battery (or two) that could be installed in the same place instead of the dual tank? Of course the battery would need to be protected and a completly sealed unit which do exist.

Would it work? Guys?

Yes it would. But if you are not getting quadralift, you also have a spare battery storage area under the front passenger seat.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi all
First time to post enjoying all your chatter.
To the point, SJandL you posted that a tank will get about 700km for your new crd.

Browsing back through the pages the fuel economy for the crd was stated at 7.8l/100km highway. With a 100l tank the figures just don't add up, or are you just driving up sandy rivers?

My concern is one of the reasons I ordered the new crd is the fuel economy would allow me +1000k best case.

Have any of the privileged few with a new crd been able to get anywhere near the oem stated performance?

Apologies gdog. Tired last night and didn't spot my typo. Have edited the post. Looking like 900 at the moment, not 700.
