We are getting the light frost interior in a Limited (Lux II upgrade to Nappa Leather), and it will have blak floors.

The Overland will have a light floor, as per Webbers pics.

and here:

Thanks for the info, we are looking at the Limited. Question what colour is the roof lining when you select the light interior, dealer thinks it is black like the rest.

Enforcer, I very much doubt if the DAB made it to Australia. Hopefully, someone can confirm me wrong.

Damn. Jeep USA are going to be pissed. How did you get hold of that Top Secret photo of the MY16 dashboard?
Notice it is the LeftHand drive version, with the 4 DVD drives just below the windscreen, and the Harmon overhead sub woofers.

Looks like there is no DAB+, which is not good news for anyone who listens to AM.
I would have thought it would be standard in our market to have this now.
Hi Enforcer,
From what SJandL described about song titles and artist names being displayed on the unit it sounds like it does indeed support dab+ as this information is not available on normal fm/am. My understanding is that australia has only adopted the dab+ standard for digital broadcasting and not any others (eg. dab which is not forward compatible with dab+)

So let me get this right.... We can still upgrade a Laredo 8.3 inch display to nav if we know someone who wants a bit of money??

Also has anyone taken ownership of a my14 Laredo on here yet? What exactly did it come standard with? Were all windows tinted or were just the back ones? We are in the process of negotiating a final price and if they can't budge dollar wise, would be nice to get a couple of options added on.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Good evening Guys and girl.
A question (or questions) was put to me last week about my film application. Naturally that question did raise some concern thinking, "what have I done". However, I think that initial concern has been addressed satisfactorally. The question raised the possibility of a dirt line across my bonnet and yellowing of the film. It would take so long to write everything here I would put everyone to sleep so I shall try to keep it brief, and as some of you have probably realised, that is not an easy task for me. Anyway I do hope the following is of assistance to those who may be considering placing film on their beautiful new cars.

Firstly, when you ring the applicator and start asking probing questions you can detect a little defensiveness. After initially being concerned by that I am now comfortable with the applicators response. After all, when you are asking someone to reply in writing it would raise the thought in their mind that they me be held accountable by their writings. As a result my written response contained all the standard "disclaimers" which at first worried me. I then felt compelled to ring the guy to clarify the situation. Late tonight or tomorrow I will ask Hymer to post some pics for me.

I will not cut & paste my written response but it briefly stated that the film can be damaged by stones, bugs, bird poo and chemicals. I thought, well why the hell did I put it on. I thought that was the purpose of the film, to protect it against those things. The response then went on to state that a dirt line can well appear where the film edge meets the paintwork. What the????

How long will it last? The formal response was, "It can age overtime (as it is designed as a sacrificial layer protecting the underneath paintwork). Gawd, that's rather inconclusive. How long is "overtime". I had read 5 years somewhere.

Anyway, I was much more re-assured after the phone call. Firstly, that piece of film in front of the rear wheels provided by the Chrysler factory is much thicker than the film on my car. That thickness is prone to minor shrinkage which exposes a larger portion of adhesive film which can catch dirt/dust. My film is much thinner (but still incredibly strong) and shrinkage is so minor that no adhesive strip becomes exposed however, it can and will collect dirt along the edge. The film is also full of millions of micro pores and if you fail to wash and polish your car, paint, film, then dirt can enter the micro pores and cause discolouration. The film does not discolour but the micro contaminants will give the appearance of such.

Now the applicator clarified things a little more. The film WILL protect the car against stone chips, bugs, bird poo and chemicals, but the film does not alleviate the need for care. If you neglect the film all the above will occurr to your film BUT if you do not care for your film it can easily be removed exposing your cars "brand new" paintwork again. Regular washing will maintain the film like new. It will prevent stains, bird poo, bugs, etc. remaining on the film and if you wash the dirt from the join line reguarly (it was suggested fortnightly) absolutely no dirt line will appear. The film needs to be treated with a polish (nano) which is applied after each few washers to paintwork and film. It is sprayed on and only a fragment of nano is used each time. The nano keeps the micro pores in the film protected so contaminants cannot enter. The bottle I was provided with will last years and is easily re-purchased at a low price. Looking after the paintwork and the film will keep it like new for years. 3M say 5 - 7 years but it will last many, many years longer, especially if car is garaged. It WILL NOT yellow if you wash reguarly (suggested each two weeks). Depending on highway usage the film will show breakdown after 3, 4 or 5 years but all the breakdown will be in the film, not your paintwork. It may well be still looking new in 10 years....it is impossible to quantify each users road usage (sealed, gravel etc.). The applicator said that if you care for the car you will not get a dirt line. If you neglect the paint/film and wash very infrequently you WILL get a line however, he said the decision is to tolerate a faint line if not kept clean over time is still preferable to having chips, pits and damaged paintwork. He did re-iterate that he has seen cars that have been maintained still looking perfect years later.

The below link is really worth reading if you are considering this film. It is lengthy to read but packed full of information. Most of the better information is well into the article (blog/forum). Sorry the way it appears below. It appears you will have to cut and paste the link below into your browser. I found this article excellent and it convinced me that I have done the right thing, especially whilst my car is brand new. I do not think I will now need to purchase the vinyl car bra's mentioned earlier which does help offset the cost of the film.

If the link does not work please contact me and I shall try posting it again so all you need do is click on it.

I will now try and send some pics of my car to Hymer for posting. I want to stress, that generally it is really difficult to see. I have picked angles with the sun to show the line to its maximum but in reality you really do not notice it. When you read the below article it makes reference to placing "full panel" film over your bonnet or fenders. If you did this I can tell you it would be impossible to see as any lines would be eliminated....however, I think the cost would be pro-hibitive to most. With respect to my film, the computer film cut-outs were specific to the MY14 JGC and were the only sizes available.......don't fall asleep now.

Haven't taken delivery, but I've test driven one. No window tint, same screen on the 4*4 laredo as the limited , the 2* has a poxy little screen, has reach and. Tilt steering wheel ( mechanical), has the dial in the centre with snow, sand, auto, and sport I think. Instrument cluster is an led screen which is programmable for whatever you want where you want it. Cloth seats, power drivers and passengers seat, nice looking 18" alloys, gets rear camera

The laredo misses out on heated rear seats, leather , power rear lift gate, GPS, USB s in back, reclinable rear seats, front and rear sensors, nicer stereo, tinted windows, memory wheel, seat, and mirror position.

The options you can push for might be leather $2500 value, tinting, towbar $1200, sensors $500 an end. Most of other stuff like GPS , memory seats, sunroofs, etc have to be ordered with the car it seems

Webber or Frad, did you get one?

All I can say at this stage, is it shows the radio station name and the name of the song and artist currently playing. (If that helps - probably not...)
Will checks wife's car next time I can & get back to you.. By tomorrow at the latest..

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi all

Being a little new to the 4x4 scene, I am hoping for a little bit of advice as to where to go with regards to insurance and what to look out for in the fine print for our new JGC to make sure we are adequately covered

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

In response to questions about the 3M film. Webber is correct, as it is not a 100% guarantee that a rock will not penetrate the film. But, with the film, 90% of stones will be repelled without any damage to the paint. About 5% will damage the film, and about 5% will penetrate the paintwork, if the rock is big and sharp and hits you at speed. Nothing will stop those types of missiles.
We have it on our VW Golf. It has been there for close to 5 years now, and there are only 2 spots where the film has been penetrated, and about 40 spots where there is a slight mark from stones being repelled without damaging the paint.
There is no yellowing, and no marks along the edges, except for a dirt mark under the door handles where we cannot easily reach with carwash and sponge. I am sure we can correct it if we apply a little polish and a few mins of extra muscle.

There are plenty of Online Insurance sites which will give you quotes with you answering some questions. That will give you an idea what range to expect. You should also phone some companies, and get quotes. Prices can dramatically vary depending on where you live, your age, whether garaged. etc.
