Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I can only go off mine, that has the button in the middle of the mirror. I am sure I also saw it on the '14 SRT I sat in. It is not hard to see, it is a power button on the middle/bottom of the rear view mirror.

Has anyone here upgraded their 18" Laredo wheels to 20"?
If so, what were you charged?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Trajcem - I don't think you can disable the auto dim mirrors.

There is no button on the interior and the operating manual states (page 69) :

Quote:
'The Automatic Dimming Mirror feature can be turned on or off using the Uconnect System... blah blah blah'
Except, there is no setting on the Uconnect system to do that. We've searched and searched and it's not there.

I also found this JG thread about it:

Disable auto-dimming mirrors?

Odd - it seems they've forgotten to add that bit.

On a happier note - whilst we were mucking around trying to find the non-existent auto-dim button/feature, we did test the VR. It's fab - changes radio station/CD tracks/temperatures, except for the Navigation side of things - it doesn't do that.

It says something about (and I paraphrase) - this navigation feature is unavailable for the country you are in (something like that).

Gforce is a name known to all
Just thought I would throw in an update re our MY14 Limited, Dealer contacted me today and our new GC which we ordered only two days ago will now be available at the end of this month, he said there is a ship load due in Australia on the 18th. I was told our original delivery date was to be early October.

I ordered a White Limited CRD with the Beige interior and Tow Bar with Elect Brake setup, Dealer has agreed to change the 20" wheels for 18".

All I can say is Wow! that is quick from ordering to delivery. ( Used a private Fleet Buying Group so maybe that helped).

Another interesting thing I learned is that the Diesel in the MY14 has been upgraded from the previous model. The power is up by 13hp Torque up by 20Nm and fuel economy down to best 6.5 L per 100 and combined 7.5 L per 100 km. Most of this improvement is due to the new Mark II injectors. Another good reason as why it was worth waiting for the new 2014 model to come out.

Like a kid waiting for Christmas, I am soooo excited about owing my first Jeep.

I've placed my order just waiting for the dealer to find out if they can get me something that is already on the way. Fingers crossed.

I just wanted to say I finally picked up my overland and all I can say is if anyone is disappointed then there is no pleasing. This car (only done 35km ) is absolutely amazing and trashes my old BMW X5.

Thanks for that, must admit your service has been absolutely fantastic, great people to deal with and the follow up on queries and general courtesy and professionalism is 10 out of 10, this would also have to include the dealership you helped me choose, they were quick to follow up on the order and answered all my questions.
Glad I found you Guys.

Hi Zamo35, great to hear you are also in a white Overland from Werribee. Your judgement on this car is of value "cause you are a former X5 owner and in a realistic position to make a comparison. Will be interested to hear more comparisons from you over the next few days. One thing I do not like but probably will get used to it and that is the external rear view mirrors showing the cars further back than what they actually are. I am not prepared to put full confidence in the blind spot monitoring yet so find myself bending the neck too often.....oh by the way, my uconnect system was still working at 35km because it was set up and working when I left the showroom. Unfortunately my Uconnect with respect to Voice Recognition has spat the dummy and goes back in next Tuesday after they have researched the problem with Chrysler Aust. Keep us informed.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

A question. In the past with diesels I was always told to leave the engine running between short stops etc. Also to run the engine for a while before driving. I also have two trucks and on the 16 tonne truck with the turbo charged diesel engine my mechanic advises that I should always cool the engine down a little prior to turning the motor off. Apparrently turning my truck engine off after coming to a quick stop is not good for the turbo. Just wondering. Do any tech heads know the answers. With modern diesel motors like on our Jeeps. 1. Should they be warmed up a little prior to driving off?. 2. Should they be cooled off a little before turning the engine off to prevent any harm to the turbo? 3. With my trucks, when loading, unloading etc I have often been advised by mechanics to leave the engine running as diesels just love running and will run all day....the longer the better. What is the case with modern motor car diesels? Are they different to trucks?..and last one...N0.4. Any harm in jumping in our CRD Jeeps to duck down for a litre of milk just a kilometre or two away or should I be using my "electric" bicycle?
