Do you believe him? The Bulletin went out to all Dealers on the 14th June, it is very compressive and it includes the specifications and price list for this new model, maybe he missed it in the mail?

UVA however is a different story. This is what is used in tanning beds, and also responsible for fabrics/leather fading.
I would have thought the tint would block UVA too.
Ask him to clarify as all glass blocks UV and see what the reply is.
Thanks for the advice Snuke, I think I might cancel the tint for now and then reevaluate the whole tint thing after a get the car.

A few of us here were involved in getting the recovery hook sorted for the MY12 after Jeep Au stuffed things up. It has a long and horrible history. Ally has given some good links if you want the whole story, but I thought I'd wade in with some information too, hopefully it will help.

The tow hook that comes with GC, located in the spare wheel well, screws into the a threaded receiver behind the removable small panel in the lower front air dam. This tow hook is suitable ONLY for short towing distances on flat ground, say after a break down, just to get the car out of harms way.

Recovery Hooks are rated for recovery of cars in serious bogged situations, in sand or mud, utilising a recovery snatch strap. They should come in a pair fitted to either side of the car. They do not screw into the tow hook threaded receiver but have a special mounting bracket.

The part number that Alexcjd has given does indeed refer to a Mopar recovery hook. However I am yet to see anyone actually fitting these to a MY14 here in Australia. Nor has Alexcjd given a price or advised availablity through Jeep AU.

If you knew the drama myself and others went through getting the MY12 sorted out, you would understand my skepticism. Until I see the recovery hooks actually fitted to an MY14 - well, I'll believe it when I see it. Recovery hooks in my view are esential if you intend to use your car off road. Why Jeep Au does not understand this is beyond me.

If you are reading this Alexcjd, maybe this is something you could do - order some of the recovery hooks yourself, fit 'em up and post some photos. This is a deal breaker for me in respect of upgrading to a MY14.

Alexcjd was good enough to reply to my PM on the subject - so I acknowledge his efforts. As usual Jeep Au is missing in action....

Well said
Totally agree with all you have said

Hmmm.... On second thoughts, tinting should be mandatory.

Not sure if anyone else noticed, but one thing the AU GC has over the US model is the clear indicator lens beside the headlight.
The US models appears to have an orange lens, which in my view cheapens the look of the car.

The dealer will just be using the el cheapo mobile bloke and taking a markup.
Thanks for the info.

Hi,

I have spoken to my parts manager and they have confirmed that they can order the tow hook for the MY14 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the RRP is $340.00

The link below shows the part and also has the installation instructions.

Tow Hooks and Straps - Tow Hook: 82212095)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi Gforce in regard to window tint, l did what l thought was the right thing with my last car and applied the best protective tint l could (cancer council tint ) to protect us,the interior and basically to stay and look cooler, but with the impending arrival of our my14 laredo after much research l find that the info is telling me that apart from it looking cool it isn't much of a benifit at all. Go to the RACV and Cancer Council sites to read the info, sorry l can't provide the link this post is as techno as l get, hope that helps.

Be careful as the same site shows the same recovery points for RHD 2013 but we all know they do not fit

Hope your info is correct
