I do remember reading the manual some time ago and was looking forward to many of the functions available to those in America. After reading a few who now have issues and functions that are missing, it will interesting how far the Uconnect system has been dumbed down for us Aussies. Maybe they made it more simple so the dealers or Jeep Australia could understand it. Some of them are obviously from the Stone Age. Who really uses a CD player? I haven't in 3 years and I'm not Gen Y. Does anyone have the Australian version we can download? Maybe it's in stone and we have to wait for Moses to come down from the mountain to read it to us.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Is anyone else looking for a nudge bar option for their 14? ECB is not going to be making one at this stage and the Mopar one is pretty useless without any tabs for lights.

Tabs for lights?

You ve already got fog lights, plus HID low beam and HID high beam, so compared to a car 15 years ago, about triple the useful output! You might need a pair of 100 watt spotties for an 90's landy offroad, but with xenon s I reckon y,ou are way over what you need.

There is a point rapidly achieved where extra brightness yields washout and loss of depth. Unless you are after super wide flood by aiming outwards

Then you should be able to pay for that option, we should not have to pay to have it removed or put up with the wasted space in the center arm rest

Barry - you can rush out and buy a 2013 before they are all gone - in that model it is behind the media display and you get a centre console and all the advantages. On our 2012 we've loaded heaps of CD's on to the hard drive and so they are as close as a button press....or even a voice command.
In the 2014 the centre console is taken up by a large plastic lump. You can't load your CD's anywhere but in a slot with the console lid up - in fact there's probably only room to store 6 beside it let alone load 6......
Is that a step forward in design??
Personally I didn't see it as something that gave the 2014 a tick in the right box.
Of course anyone who hasn't owned or driven a previous WK2 for a while won't have a basis for comparison.

This Player is good for only one CD, like that was what they were fitting in cars nearly 15 years ago. I have a large box in the attic of over 200 CD's and they now all reside on my iPod Touch. Once you have converted to the technology you won't go back.

Map Updates

Just thought of something horrible, my Garmin GPS requires a CD / DVD for map updates, could this be the reason for the player in the new model?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

you can imagine my surprise when my dealer brought my new My14 from the back of the lot to the front and the left daytime running light was on before he came around the bend then went off as he came around the bend then turned back on as he pulled up in front of me.........OH NO!!!!!! I thought "the cars got a fault even before I take delivery.......Damn!!!!!!!!"
I point this out to the dealer and he seemed just as shocked. So he went and got the service manager to have a look. He returned looking very sheepish and informed me that the daytime running lights automatically turn off on the side that the indicator is flashing on and then turn back on when the indicator is cancelled. First time he and I had heard about it. thanks god its not an issue.
So..... just a heads up to anyone that notices this on their car and panics like I did.....Don't.....its suppose to do that.
Had the car since Friday and its my first Jeep and I must say I am mightily impressed. Next, time to get it offroad. Look out fraser island here we come!!!!!!!!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

A question for those who have taken delivery of CRD with Off-road II.

Is Select-Speed control included, or it simply does not come to Aussie market?

Cheers

Follow up on the map update, was told by dealer that it'll be updated at the time of service. Does it mean you don't get the update if you don't service the car with dealer? Just doesn't sound right.
