Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I didn't see, or feel the mud flaps in the bag of goodies (floor mats, wheel caps...) not fitted to a Laredo, and I can't see it listed either.

I know I and others have asked for them as an extra.

I also looked at the photos on the JA website- not a mud flap to be seen. I do remember reversing over one in the Prado once and it ripped off, so maybe they are more trouble than they are worth?
My Dealer is supplying the Mud Flaps at no charge, I had noticed that the previous GC models had them , but could see none on the 14's. I think they are worth fitting as they do serve a purpose of helping keep gravel away from the bodywork, which as you know flicks up on those unsealed roads. I recently broke a rear Mud Flap on my 02 Nissan Patrol and I went to the Dealer to buy a new one (pair) they cost... and wait for this, an unbelievable $252 each, yes that's each, or a full set for over $1000. Checked this with Nissan Customer Service in Sydney and told the price was correct. So Jeep parts are not so expensive after all, hey.

( PS: Found a set at SuperCheap which I modified for $44)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

The mud flaps are a dealer fitted item.....sourced from their spare parts department. They don't come in a bag on board like the floor mats.
If the dealer doesn't fit them (and for the model life so far most dealers have) then they are available retail from dealers around $70 a pair.
It's a hour job to fit the lot including reading the instructions.

Thanks for the thought Webber. I am getting a tow bar, window tinting, bonnet protector etc so will be a few days at least. Getting mighty close though!

Thanks for the reminder, I still had it on the default setting, so it was showing as 416 pages to me.
99 pages it is with 50 posts per page.

For those who are also on default and want to change but not sure how.

Go here Jeep Garage - Jeep Forum
Then scroll down to Number of Posts to Show Per Page and alter it.

Questions about roof racks, is there any difference between the '13 and '14? Are they compatible with US roof racks? What models are best and who has the best prices?

Thanks

I can't comment on the Jeep specific questions but in general, I'd recommend getting one of the aero dynamic ones, especially if you have a sunroof else it might get quite noisy. I've had Rhino on my previous two cars(Current Subaru Outback and before a Magna VR AWD), I've been pretty happy with them. Plus they are made in Aus.

While we are on the topic, I'm extremely disappointed in the roof capacity of the GC, so far, not having it yet, it is my single biggest gripe in the vehicle. The sticker on the GC's says it is limited to 68kg and can't be used for long loads. Hello Jeep, what do you think people use roof racks for!

Having said this, since I bought my Subaru, we bought a camper trailer and it has boat racks. I've used it to pick up bigger things that were too much for the Subie. Dunno if I will bother with racks on the GC, I'll just take the camper to Bunnings.
