While we are on the topic, I'm extremely disappointed in the roof capacity of the GC, so far, not having it yet, it is my single biggest gripe in the vehicle. The sticker on the GC's says it is limited to 68kg and can't be used for long loads. Hello Jeep, what do you think people use roof racks for!

Having said this, since I bought my Subaru, we bought a camper trailer and it has boat racks. I've used it to pick up bigger things that were too much for the Subie. Dunno if I will bother with racks on the GC, I'll just take the camper to Bunnings.
I have seen roof top tents on Hyundai's the tents weigh around 70-80 kg + 2 average persons sleeping up there adds another 150 + kgs. Just maybe they are referring to 68 kgs max when travelling @ 100 kmh as wind loading may play a big part. Others thoughts?

Yeah, I'm sure that the roof rack on any vehicle will be able to support far greater than it's rated load while stationary. Even without wind resistance, there is braking which would put significant strains on the roof.

I suspect that I have carried above what my Subaru is rated to (short distances, no highways) and just been careful but I just expected more from the Jeep and was disappointed to see that sticker. My father carries a decent size tinnie on his Pajero so it's just one area where the GC does not meet the specs of the other 4wd's, the other that I can think of is water fording depth.

Anyway, no vehicle can be all things to all people, I'm looking forward to what will(I hope) be an awesome vehicle.

I was told by my dealer that mud flaps are not standard on the 14 as they wer on the 12. Was told that best to buy them after market and fit them yourself that way you would avoid any luxury taxes associated with the vehicle if you are in that bracket.
Fingers crossed I will be picking up my Overland in a couple of days. Time to celebrate after waiting since November.

Off to Fraser on 4 Aug. May be the first to christen the Island with a 2014 JGC.

With an SRT on the way might be a good time to invest in an oil company!

True, I was going imperial not US Gallon
This is about what I averaged in my FPV GTE and also my Turbo Territory for the short runs I generally do.
