I can only receive calls but cannot alter radio stations, temp or make calls through the VR system. It was working on day 1 but spat the dummy shortly afterwards.
Thanks Webber, its annoying that it only happens occasionally in my vehicle as without doubt it won't happen when I take it back to them.

With the VR system do you know if you should be able to load addresses by voice in the navigation area? Sorry to ask you this as I know yours is not working , however thought you may know.

Hopefully they change yours over and it all works perfectly for you!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Bigskiddy,

Its always the way with the "first off the boat" my 2011 JK CRD was the same.. So I'm not unhappy that we have a few things to look at.. This JGC is worth a few little fix ups as its AMAZING!!... Both my wife and I love it to bits! So quiet on the road, classy with the color coding and leather dash + the best value for money on the market today...

All in all a couple of electrical issues are worth what you get in return!.. Don't worry or feel bad for anyone with there 2014 as we have ours and very happy not to be waiting around for it.. Feel bad for people being told 6 month wait for this Jeep!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Oh Bigskiddy, don't start that. What's that old saying again -

'Never trouble trouble, 'til trouble troubles you'

You can run shy of course, but no car is devoid of issues.

I mentioned my friend so many pages back in this thread, that bought a brand new MB a few months ago. Guess where that MB is now? Not at home with her that's for sure - she's still in the dealership's loan car.

They still don't know what's wrong with it. She cracked it at the dealership after it had to be towed 4 times in 8 weeks. As you would of course.

Jeep has a bad rep in Australia for the reliability of its older models. I can tell you we've had no issues with our '07 JGC other than a split radiator hose a few months back and a whole $74 out of pocket for replacement coolant.

Our middle daughter has (shock, horror) a VW Golf TDI. No issues with that vehicle either despite the Fairfax campaign against the manufacturer.

Point is, if you're going to read every 'bad' story about every car and take it to heart - well you may as well just get a bicycle (and lycra - don't forget the lyrca )

I can only speak for the MY14 JGC Overland but it's a beautiful car; not perfect obviously as we have seen via various threads on this site, but that's what warranties are for.

Sorry to mislead you, I'm not stressing about the problems, and really looking forward to when my car arrives. My wife said she's thinking of banning me from talking about jeeps and from Jeep Garage.

My first new car purchase when I was 19 old was a Hyundai Excel. Was told by everyone they were junk and would give me problems. Nearly 15 years later she's done 300,000km and cost me two batteries and an alternator. Not too bad I think.

I reckon my GC will be my next underdog, to stick it up my "Toyota - style from the 90's" loving' family.

Hi All, anyone taking out a novated lease to purchase their new Jeep GC?
Have you seen the changes announced by Kevin Rudd this morning and does anyone understand what the tax implications will be?

Based only on the news reports, I understand that whereas you used to be able to keep a log book for something like 10 weeks, then extrapolate the % work to % private use for the whole financial year (or 2 years maybe), you now must keep a log book (or some certifiable form via, say, and approved app) for the entire tax period. While this should make no difference if the period for which the log book was kept was truly representative of your business usage, obviously the government think that it was not - to the extent of $1.8B!
