I could be wrong, but reading today's paper it looks it will take effect as of the 1st April 2014, and doesn't seem to be retrospective
So anyone currently arranging a lease should be ok

For those worrying about the lease saga unfolding at the moment, don't let it affect you getting a fantastic car. take a wad of cash from work for a car allowance , throw your jeep on the house loan via an equity loan and in 5 years you own it outright and then can repeat the process.

I gave up leasing when I got the last car. Fiscally in my situation it wasn't worth doing and from what my accountant said a lot of people are in the same position.

I'm with you Bretto - exactly what I did this time around.

Well, the 6 months wait is almost over - I get to pick up my GC this Friday afternoon, all ready to go. Will do the first 1000k over the weekend, get it serviced next week then head north for a few weeks with my caravan.

Goodbye Prado!!

That is not correct, the FBT year is 1 April to 31 March, so it will be effective for the new FBT year, but will apply to all agreements created or changed from 16 July 2013.

Basically, I think if you sign up today you will get statutory method until 1 April next year and then have to use the log book method for the remainder of the lease.

I think your right. Just had a Maxxia Rep tell me the same. Still nothing is confirmed as yet.

SJandL so sorry to see the damage to your gc, l do the same with my holden sport wagon ( park way down the back of the carpark) l had the same damage as you on our previous car a uc torana a deep gouge front door to back and most recently the sportwagons front bumper scratched and the same thing in both cases no note so of course you're left to bear the repair cost. It really leaves a bad taste in your mouth especially if you are the sort of person who takes care of their car, l'm afraid we can't wrap them in bubble wrap though. Just found out yesterday that our new baby will arrive at the dealership at the end of august, can't wait. Cherry red Laredo crd.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Speaking of issues with the UConnect has anyone else had issues getting the personal seat/mirrors to adjust to the fob(s) I can set the 2 positions with no problem but can't get them to recall to the different fobs. When I set them I make sure the other fob is well away from the car.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Called the lease company this morning, they are in total meltdown and not sure how this will pan out also the guy doing my lease is feeling very unsecure about his future employment.
I then called the dealer and started to put in place new arrangements for the purchase of the car. My GC was loaded on the boat last night so it still gives me 6 weeks to see how this goes but I will be getting my new CRD Overland one way or another.

This is typical of a desperate government - trying to grap cash, only to make a sector redundant as everyone looks for an alternative.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

We haven't tried it - we only use one fob in this household but Post #16 onwards on this thread may be of some assistance Aus.

Adaptive Forward Lighting

Fourbfarmer - good news about your impending arrival. Just another 6 odd weeks to go. Yes, I was so annoyed about the damage to WK. Other than a 'roo strike years ago that cracked the front bumper, all the dents and dints on that vehicle have come via being parked in a car park. I'm so paranoid about WK2 now.
