Hi Munars, I see yours was loaded, unfortunately mine is still on the wharf, but still logged in as arriving Fremantle 3 days after yours, something is amiss

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Same here - if mine was to meet the expected delivery date to Port Kembla, it would have to be on the Tamberlane - which it doesn't look like it is. The next boat - the Tirranna - doesn't arrive until 8 days after the expected date. So I guess the expected date is just wrong. Or there is another ship I don't know about

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Yahoo! Just had a call from Adam at Caroline Springs to say the car has arrived in Australia and after it has gone through all the motions we should receive it next week. He will keep me updated!

I mentioned that I cursed myself because I forgot to negotiate in mudflaps. He was surprised to hear this so checked the paper work and came back to say they were on the contract now! What a guy! No hassle, no negotiating! I'm starting to get excited! He was a bit sad though because no referrals have come through from this forum. If you in the market for a Jeep, give him a go.

I was able to mention concerns about tow bar wiring and uconnect, thanks to this forum; it's good to be on the front foot with all of this. Thanks guys for all the brilliant information.

Now i just have to find a set of 18" rims so that we can start our epic travel adventure...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just got a message from my dealer to confirm my order with the factory.

When I asked about the E number, I got this response:

"They will not release the E numbers new company policy"

I presume the "they" is Jeep Australia.

They are really learning about this customer service thing.

If they won't release an E number I would question whether the order is actually at the factory. JeepAU seems to prefer to fill orders from generic orders they have placed and members are being told " take this one or wait many many months". Very poor service from the importer.

I would use the line, no E number then no order. You are well within your rights to have an E number. This is obviously a tactic and they are hoping that you will just say ok.

Insist on an E-number. I put a deposit down in Jan 13 for delivery in "the first batch" in July. Even though I hounded weekly, no E-number was forthcoming. Against advice in this forum I trusted the dealer/process. In June I pushed for a specific delivery date and then everything went quiet - no responses to emails or phone calls. Eventually I got to the "new" sales manager who fessed up. There was no "order" ever placed with Jeep USA......but hey, would I like another color/spec???.......yeah right. Needless to say I have my deposit back but am now at the back of the queue and miffed.

Al.

Does anyone know how cars are allocated?
I think I am in a similar situation as you are, I placed an order for a Limited diesel with a few options just over 3 weeks ago and Jeep AU still has not allocated a car for me. I was told by the dealer that it may take up to a month for Jeep AU to allocate a car?! Anyhow the contact say the car has to be delivered by the 30th Sept. I guess it is possible for them to build and ship the car in 2 and a half months.

The question is; "how binding is the delivery date?" Is there a process whereby cars are allocated based on their $ sale value. ie. Those deals which have the most margin are fufuilled first???

Austin - I tested it tonight and through various dicking with it - I got it to work. It is an extension of what we have on WK (which never really worked to be honest, well it did (I'm being unkind) but not the same as WK2 but close enough).

So - I found, you have to first check two boxes on the Uconnect system.

1: Settings - Doors and Locks - Personal settings linked to Key Fob. CHECK

2: Settings - Engine Off Option - Easy Exit Option. CHECK

No surprises with checking #1 but it wasn't until I checked #2 that it actually worked.

After these two options checked, then I took Key Fob #1 and started the car. Pressed memory setting 1 on the door panel (my setting), it reconfigured the steering column and seat and then I pressed the Lock option on the key fob. A few clicks and lights flashed and it was set.

Then shut down car, went inside and got Key Fob #2 (Sam's key) and started the car. Pressed memory setting 2 on the door panel (his setting), it reconfigured the steering colum and seat and I pressed the Lock option on his key fob.
Same clicks and lights flash and it was set.

Tested between the two fobs. It works each time.

It did not work however prior to me setting the Easy Exit Option check box.

Anyway, give it a go - it does work.

Oh - the Easy Exit option, works in the same way as our '07 JGC. When the engine is turned off, it adjusts the steering column and also the drivers seat backwards to give you more room to exit (just in case you are wondering what that is).
