Just back in Brisbane after a trip to Townsville and Magnetic Island over 10 days. A lot highway driving but quite a bit of short driving at various stop overs.

3,089 km averaged 7.4 litres/100k sitting on the speed limit or thereabouts (CRD).
The adaptive cruise control was fantastic, saved fuel by sitting at the set distance behind vehicles doing a similar speed to that required by me. You could relax as the ACC was always watching.

It also seems to be highly recommended to use a DC-DC converter, partly to ensure the charging system doesn't get confused, and partly to ensure the right voltage for, say, a fridge. I have yet to determine whether a separate battery isolator is required. Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Good news on the ship allocation when will it arrive?

Great news, I too have been alloted a vessel to bring my much awaited ride to Aus.
Re the dual battery, I was thinking of a thumper, which is easily removable & includes the charging system that can be permanently wired.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Picked up my limited CRD with lux pack yesterday. Managed to get a stock car so time from order to pick up was two weeks. Giddy up!

Very happy so far. Only question I have is re the car and text messages. When I was picking it up I got a message and it came up on the car. I then had the option for the car to read it out which I said yes to. The text had a lot of swearing related to the contrasting status of my afl dreamteam and my cousins which I found amusing considering I was in the car with the dealer. Anyway, I have since received texts in the car and done some tests but it no longer comes up. I don't recall changing any settings so just wondering is there a setting for it somewhere or is there a fault? Any advice appreciated.

Re texts - the reading out only works in park not while in drive

I decided to create a thread for MY14 extra batteries and trailer DC to help keep relevant information more findable. I've already posted a reply to your question there. See:

The MY14 2nd Battery and DC Thread

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Lol Corey - I was thinking exactly the same thing.

I was also going to say, that been as well mine is white, photos are superfluous , it looks pretty much the same as webbers, although its not being molested in the dark of night...

Had a most embarrassing problem today. Computer chucked a spastic and went into protection mode and the car stopped with the engine still running but no effect by accelerating.

Can't remember the warning message , as I was kind of put off by being in show the car off mode with the in laws, and a car right behind me. Happened up a very steep bitumen incline at very very slow speed. Fixed t by putting it in park, then back into drive and all seemed good again.

I pulled over and had a look under the bonnet and no green gremlins jumped out, so assume a computer issue - perhaps trans protection ( doofus in front was doing 2kmh up a 15% incline for 30 m)?

Anyone got any ideas?

Also have a rattle in the dash, that shows at 100kmh ( reared its head in the first 2 minutes of ownership, but I don't turn round for anything), apart from that, all good, quiet, bounces over small cars with comfort, confuses the wife, impresses the mother in law. - now needs fridge and beer in back , and l ll be set for a xxxx commercial .

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Got my GC Yesterday, drivern 500k, could not be happier.

Dealer made one error, put on a 6 pin trailer socket instead of the 12 pin on the contract - they promised they will fix at the 1000k.

Issue - on my Prado I used extension mirrors that fit on the door and clip into the window slot - no good as scratched the glass and never a good solution.

Has anyone found a "reasonable" solution on a GC Jeep for extension mirrors that allow some rear vision with a caravan on, do not fall off and do not damage the door/windows areas??
