Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Lane departure is a warning of drifting over a lane, blind spot is very different (works very well). The GS User Manual talks about lane departure as an option - I did not get an option!! Useless Aussie marketing !@#@heads !!!

BTY, forward collision warning is a bit of a worry wart - if a car in front diverges left and slows down fairly quickly, the warnings are severe!!! red flashing words, shouts at you, the whole box and dice!! Woke me up!!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I'm afraid this new Jeep may prove to be too expensive for my modest means too support. Picked it up at 12.00pm and by 1.30pm it had already cost me $106. Damn speed camera! ... The car is just too quiet and deceptive.

Other than that it is a magic ride and we will be hitching the van and heading north tomorrow. I'm a bit concerned I have only 1100km up, would like to have spent more time 'running in' and allowing the gremlins to show up before heading off.

I read a lot of different views on first servicing requirements. What is the general consensus on waiting until the 10,000k mark for the first oil change?

Don't worry, there is a special setting to avoid speed cameras. Just hit the button labled low-4wd and it will stop it happening.

2 - Typing destination in NAV very slow as takes 1 - 1.5 seconds to respond to each digit - must be a slow search algorithm for the names.

The Bad News:
A = Jeep Australia have significantly reduced the functionality in the Uconnect:
1 - DAB/DAB+ option available, but turned off.
2 - Apps/Wi-Fi/3G Comms - all absent.
B = Other:
1 - Stupid CD player in center storage - marketing person's brain stuck in the last century.
2 - Ash tray & cigarette lighter should be an expensive optional extra.
3 - They even deleted the garage opener!!
4 - Lane departure not included in warning systems (factory option)
I recall there was a discussion some pages back about the heaters going funny.

Was there a fix for it? (Our Larado is doing the same thing).

Before anyone arcs up, I have tried to search for it but only found Webbers comments that the changing out of his Uconnect o fix the issue.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Good to hear everyone has been enjoying their cars still (well those that have them).

We have had our overland for around a week and a half now. Racked up 950km, averaging around 10L with the fuel at the moment but that's basically all town driving with a tiny bit of highway and a bit of off road driving. Admittingly I've got a fairly heavy foot so I am usually giving it a bit.

Still loving the jeep heaps! We are still the only new grand Cherokee around these areas which is pretty cool. Tested the jeep on the beach and it drove perfectly (wasn't difficult conditions) and tested out the low range and rock setting by going up a rock quarry, nothing to extreme but everything worked very well.

Anyways heres two pics of our new love. Hope everyone keeps enjoying their new rides as they get em!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi all,
I have recently joined the forum and have been really enjoying the info and banter. I'm am keen on a 2014 JGC Limited, CRD, Granite, Light Frost, Quadra lift, ORA II. Just waiting to hear if dealer can get Jeep to alter a car in their existing order, in time for an Oct-Nov delivery. Just in time for holidays, SA-Tas, in Dec. (Keeping my fingers crossed).

The light frost will be the issue as there will be next to none on order.
I have a Geanite Ltd with light frost (Lux II) on order with an era of four months. Y ours will more than likely be similar. If there is no miracle stock they can pull from I highly recommend stepping up to the Lux II to get the ventilated Nappa leather, it is so much nicer.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Light Frost IS a problem. I originally wanted that, but first they delivered Black, then delivered Tan.
I suspect once you mention Light Frost, those Clowns at Jeep Aust pick any other colour.

Ohhh, was that your drama.
Guess I better make sure I get an E number to ensure the build is correct.
