With regard to sat nav for a Laredo there is an aftermarket product available which allow you to attach nav and an extra camera

http://www.navtv.com/product/279/uct-13-.html

UCT-13+ (JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE / 2014, REST OF THE WORLD)
The UCT-13 is a rear camera, front camera, a/v input and Navigation integration interface for the 2013 and up Dodge Ram with the 8.4 Inch U-CONNECT screen, or for the 2014 and up Jeep Grand Cherokee with either the basic 5" screen or the upgraded 8.4" screen. This kit provides fully automatic rear view camera image displayed on your factory screen. This kit also has the ability to use the camera any time via the factory buttons while the display on the factory LCD Gauge cluster tells you what mode you are selecting.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Great link Greenacres, it seems they would need this though
NAV-TV Corporation: Multi-Purpose Interfaces

“GARMIN NTX54-STAND ALONE NAVIGATION
GARMIN NTX54-STAND ALONE NAVIGATION allows the addition of Garmin based Navigation to any LCD monitor that will accept a RCA (COMPOSITE) or RGB input.”

The issue then becomes getting Aus maps installed. Is this possible, from where?
It is something they can look into at least if the official options don’t actually exist.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Greenacres, thanks for the link. I'll look into that though I suspect with the US price of the kit, coupled with fitting and Australian maps etc you wouldn't end up with much change from the aftermarket solution provided by Alberts.

Pharmaboy, you actually have to see the colour in the flesh. I wouldn't call it beige, far from it. I did actually order a cherry red colour but changed it when I learned this colour was available on the same shipment due to a changed order. I'm glad I did as apart from the showing dirt issue, it is not as nice a red as the one for the SRT, and it is becoming rather common.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Funny thing happened on the way home. Pulled over (with everybody else) for a random breath test.

First thing the nice young cop says is: 'Wow, nice car - is this the new one?' What is it - V6? V8? ' as it sticks his head in the cabin having a squizzy' 8sp transmission - yeah?' 'How long have you had it?'

Then finally he says, 'Oh sorry - we're doing RBTing - can you blow in this'

It's a headturner that's for sure.

SJandL, That is funny. Baa Baaa was at O'Brien today to get the windscreen replaced, apparently a few other Jeep owners came in for repairs and they were all over my car.

Bad news for me is.. get this... According to O'Brien's investigation and databases there is currently no replacement glass for MY14 GC in the world. The MY13 glass which they shipped in is the same size but the rain sensor is completely different. Even though there are apparently none available anywhere they are very confident they can get one within the month.

So word of advice guys, don't smash your windscreen for the time being.

That is a genuine Jeep original. O'Brien do not make it at all. They had to call the insurance agent to get approval to buy a genuine windscreen.

Too bad, sorry to get you on the search from hell. Have you looked elsewhere in the problems section? Maybe pose the question to the forum in that section? If you do, you might want to mention that you have already had a crack at that fix.

Hi Erina, there was a $4K difference. The guys at Gosford were very informative & helpful through the whole process but in the end they wouldn't budge even after I gave them another chance to come close. A dealership in Newcastle was another $3.5K higher than the Gosford guys. So Tynan Motors Sutherland were the ones for me.

I was going to ask how you went with the windscreen - hope they get it fixed soon

Well .. The Jeep has had the all time biggest test .. And passed ! The kids approve!

It's their first proper drive in it this arvo. The nappa leather is really soft and was scratching last time they jumped in so they had to wait for a cover to be made up

Thanks CRD, I picked ours up yesterday, what a car, just gorgeous, we had our hearts set on Deep Cherry Red but when we saw both colours together WHITE was the colour for us, on the way home I had the music blaring (nearly went deaf), a few warning alarms went off along the way, but thanks to the forum I knew what they were for. iPhone works through blue tooth, phone contacts are in. So far everything is working perfectly, but I still have a lot to set up. She is so quiet, very light steering, goes like a bat out of hell & best of all up here on the coast it's turning heads wherever we go, plus those lights are just fantastic. Oh & the wife is still to scared to drive her, she's afraid she will push the wrong buttons lol.
