I've now done nearly 400kms of city, mostly/start-stop driving and still have over half a tank of fuel. I have been noting some minor issues for dealer to assess at the 1k km check. Some of these are experienced by others here but I thought I'd post them in case there are others that are common. I'd be interested to hear the outcome from your issues.

1. Evic display disappeared (only happened once so far)
2. Climate control has a mind of its own - eg both sides set at 21c but sometimes blows excessive heat at one side, and at different times. On one day, it was a cool day, it got so hot at 21c I had to open all windows and turn it down to 18c - which then made it too cold.
3. dash backlight sometimes does not come on during the day. I use the headlights on auto. I'm not sure if the backlight is supposed to be on during the day but when it is not, the speedo, gauges and LCD screen are almost impossible to read. Whether the backlight comes on or off is independent to how bright it is outside.
4. the front speakers sometimes sound as if the cones are torn when listening to AM radio.
5. A dull, clunking sound when riding over speed humps at slow speed.
6. A vibration behind the dash at idle.
7. Lower outside trim on rear door coming adrift.

This sounds like a lot of issues, but they are minor and usually par for course for any complex newly released model car. Hopefully they will be ironed out by the first major service.

Another thing which I find annoying (it is not a fault as such) is that although the automatic wipers work very well, it is not that easy to set the sensitivity when you are driving along. It should not matter but if you need just a wipe you have to turn the switch and then have to find your setting again. For example, if you push on the wand so it washes as well as wipes, you then have to reset the automatic setting sensitivity.
With the Auto, try adjusting the setting dial as it seems to vary the arrangement with brightness of lights.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

My Redline SRT has landed at the Port of Brisbane - finally, it is on Australian soil!!! Should have it by end of next week... hopefully.

Does anybody know if it is possible to track delivery through the customs clearance stage, before dealer delivery?

As requested pics of 'my puppies' which are not puppies any more. Willi (the Airedale) is 4 now and my poor old Winston (AKA Boo) is 12. I don't want to think about the fact that the average lifespan of a Springer is 13.

Excuse the pics though - trying to get a decent shot of these two is like pulling teeth. Neither of them understand sit still - I have a camera. I gave Boo a Schmacko though. Excuse Willi's beard - she had just shoved her face in the water bowl - an occupational hazard of being an Airedale.

ETA: We are very lucky to still have Willi. 5 months ago she decided to leap on a red belly black and took two strikes to the cheek area. She was with the vet for four days - twice he said he nearly lost her. Lucky indeed is that dog.

Nawwwewww completely beautiful and very lucky! Strong puppy that one! We are very lucky to have loyal companions!

That's great to hear mate! I will hook myself up with one to go under the cover. Was very decent in price too which is refreshing for a dog product hahha

My dealer said there is an AU spec u connect book on back order and will get to when it comes in. Barry Taylor uses the same dealer I'm not sure if he was told the same thing?

No satnav. Using a Garmin 3597 unit on the bottom right of the window. Works well.
For a small cost vs the overland cost I upgraded my limited which had sat nav standard with nappa leather, ventilated seats and dual pane sunroof and basically turned my limited into a overland .. The only things it doesn't have is the auto smash up the ass of another car thing and lane change into another car coming thingy which, theoretically I should be able to do myself and save 10 grand .. I've been driving since 2000 accident fault free thus far so I think it was a wise investment not to pay the coin for a overland

Pardon my spam posts catching up on all the goss

So we're week 3 and 4 days and 5,800kms into the new car! Brief report is the car is fantastic! My only beef is the rear clunk/suspension thud that is being rectified by my dealer with new rear shocks when they arrive. They re aligned the passenger door no worries and the clunk in the gear change from 2-1 is 'normal'
I'm told but I assume with all the uS people whinging there will be a software update at some point to fix that and not so worries and will wear the embarrassment for now lol

Has anyone else felt this ?

Only in the last few days being home have I also noted that the passenger temp is hotter than my temp Which is on a Lower temp. Noticed other people with this as well so I will mention it to the dealer when it gets new shocks. Other than that it's marvellous !!l love it and will be getting a new one for the successor to Sebastian when he finishes service.

Off to Brisbane and rokky and woomba next week so I would probably be approaching the 10k service soon enough so will report back how that all goes

Hope everyone is enjoying their beasts and all the newbies receiving them enjoy it thoroughly!

Brett

Anyway, now have all mudflaps on, tow bar etc and Ambient Lighting....no regrets, I love it. Name your colour....purple, red, blue, orange, mauve, pink, green etc. Looks better than I expected. Can be bright or muted. Will try and get a pic or two up tomorrow.
UCONNECT.....It took them all day to find out the problem. They have to completely replace it. Have to wait until ordered in and then only a 20 minute job to swap it over. They turned themselves inside out trying to establish what was wrong. Anyway, they are not repairing, going to replace it. Most functions work except most VR things. I can receive phone calls though. Whatever the problem is though it also affects some of the heating adjustments. Will come back about this.
Like other owners though, what a car. The best car I've ever had.

Hi Weber, I have purchased an ambient lighting kit, however, from the instructions, it would seem it may not suit the MY14. Wondering, did your dealer have any problems fitting yours? Sure would appreciate any feedback.
I cannot find any Mopar ambient lighting kit advertised to suit MY14????
