Gforce is a name known to all
Uconnect all Fixed
As previously suggested hold down the Tune and Mute buttons. Uconnect came on, no settings were lost... Very strange this problem.

We have an older HR brake controller on our Pajero, and it seems to do the job well, we have never had an issue with it.
There are several models these days
Hayman Reese Brake Controllers
Which did they install?
They are all rebadged something, if it is a rebadged Tekonsha, then yes it is better than the Redarc. (1 & 3 on the link are Tekonsha, 4 is a Redarc)

The Redarcs are great because they take up no room and can be neatly installed in easy reach with just a little button showing.
However, they are not progressive. That is, with Tekonsha, they increase the brake pressure applied in the same way as you increase your cars brakes pressure.
Redarcs, you set the max brake force, and when you apply the brake pedal, that is the force applied to the trailer. You can adjust the pressure with the dial.
With the Tekonsha, you set the max pressure, but it only hits that setting when you apply full brake force. This is done with an internal pendulum that operating on inertial forces.
Slow down quickly, pendulum moves quickly, more brake force, slow down slowly, pendulum moves less, less brake force is applied.

We (the dealer) will be installing our Tekonsha in the GCs media cubby.
See the pics in the Towing Thread I took of how it will easily fit

my controller in the cubby

This is all better off in the tow thread.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I would suggest NO ONE gives a dealer carte blanch to install a brake controller, Anderson Plug, or hitch, without firstly agreeing on the hardware to be installed, and how and where each component will be installed. Get it in writing beforehand.

Yep, it's a Tekonsha Primus IQ.
Brake Controllers - Tekonsha

Simple explanation of how it differs to the other Tekonsha's here
Caravan Brake Controllers | Electric Brakes | Tekonsha Prodigy | Caravan Electric Brakes | Melbourne Australia

Who'd you get them off?

I was thinking of some slush mats and the front stone deflector as well, but postage is a bit of a killer at times......

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

G'day All
This is my first post. I have been following this thread with great interest since I ordered my 2014 GC CRD Laredo in early April. All the information you people have provided is very much appreciated. Was pleasantly surprised when dealer told me on 28 June that the GC arrived while many of you were still waiting patiently for your GC.
Pleasure has turned to pain(as in frustration and disappointment-at least for the time being) when, 5 days after picking up the car it failed to start - flat battery! I recalled that the night before I locked the car with the key fob remote and some time later went out to admire my purchase only to see that the center screen and the instrument lights were still on and wouldn't turn off. Called roadside assist and he jump started car and then off to the dealer - they couldn't find the fault. No problem for 5-6 days then it appeared again - off to the dealer straight away before the battery flattened and (fortunately for me )the problem still there and caused much scratching of heads. Some 10 days later car returned with a software "patch" to ,apparently, cure the problem. Off to the Vic. east coast for the weekend and following morning (Saturday) problem there again and no assistance close by so, as the car still started, headed back to Melbourne that day rather than stay till Sunday and have another flat battery but was flat by Monday anyway and car back to dealer-now waiting to see what transpires. Suffice to say the car is at present virtually unusable. At least I have been given a car on loan - a Fiat Freemont- not nearly as sexy as the GC. I wish I only had those small problems some of you have such as erratic heating etc. Oh, and the cruise control is faulty- when it's on and the"SET +" button is pressed to increase the set speed the cruise switches itself off and cant be switched on untill the engine is turned off and on again!?
Any suggestions as to a cure for these problems will be gratefully received!
At least the smooth power of the CRD and 8 Speed ZF box is all that I expected.

Share ur angst! So many issues with a brand new car paid for with hard earned cash. Quality and reliability is just not in Chrysler's dictionary.
