Well you will just have to move to sunny Qld.

Our full custom plates cost from $450 to an incredible $4000, but at least there is no ongoing costs involved.
There is a dedicated website where owners are listing their plates for sale.
As a matter of interest what does it cost to register a GC in NSW? Our rego costs here are based on the number of cylinders, so my 4 cyl 3 litre Nissan Patrol cost the same to register a small car.

Does anyone know where I can get Coopers tires up Waitara way? Thinking of trading in the stock tires for a set of Zeon's.

"tires" you getting American on us?
Actually, that is the original spelling.

anyway, Coopers site says around the corner at Tyrepower
Cooper Tires - Dealers Locator

Tyrepower don't say anything about Cooper

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just picked up my white crd limited with quadra lift from Wanneroo Jeep, what a beautiful machine, smooth, quiet and excellent layout, the sales man Gabe was excellent to deal with, walked me through the vehicle inside and out and new his stuff, answered all my questions and showed me how everything worked even paired my phone for me, now just need a bit better weather but I will be driving regardless, sd card worked perfectly, one very happy camper

When on an 'American' website....

Thanks, that is what I find, the Coopers website gives you a supplier but when I go to the supplier website they don't mention Coopers at all.

Looks like I will have to do some cold calling.

Cheers

Some of the Qld prices for plate combos are tricky . My "JGC 14" plates sitting on my wonderful new silver JGC 13 CRD Limited were pretty economical ( I got sick of waiting what would have been 11 months delivery and for a lemon car stuck in rework in Detroit for 2 months and bought this one out of dealer stock) , but the plates I ordered for my wife's coming Audi A3 were two and a half grand! If you want anything different to 2-3 letters in front and 2 -3 numbers second it really bites . So SUZ A3 hit all the stops. But it is one off and you can trade them. By the way , I don't know how I would have done without the flapper glass on the rear tailgate when towing or the door side chrome strips for supermarket rage. I now will have to wait for the 15 and see if they reinstate some of the 13 features before I move up to get the air suspension I really needed all along in my original order. Bugger.
I also did the swap for the 20 inch wheels down to 18 inch with another new buyer , and the difference in handling on and off road is noticeable. I guess tyres flex and absorb bumps , but rims don't.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

As I think i mentioned a few weeks back I know an American guy that is coming out to work here in mid Sep. I did a bit of sucking up and he was willing to let me get some gear for BaaBaaa and have him ship it out with his household goods. So I went shopping on Amazon.

1 x Tubular Running Boards $442

Genuine Jeep Accessories 82212129AB Tubular Side Step : Amazon.com : Automotive

1 x Tow Hooks $136

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Tow Hook : Amazon.com : Automotive

1 x complete set of mud flaps $65

Amazon.com: 2011-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Front and Rear Deluxe Molded Splash Guards-Set of 4: Automotive

1 x Tote Bag for the shopping $25

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Cargo Tote : Amazon.com : Automotive

A little over $50 for shipping the whole lot. I am a very happy camper at the moment. Not sure how much the running boards would cost here.. But I am sure I save a bit. All items are Mopar..

If anyone is interested, we have just towed our 2t Jayco with our new MY14 Laredo from the south coast of NSW to Broken Hill, then to Cameron Corner, Innaminka, The Dig Tree and currently at Thargominda. The CRD Laredo with quadralift, ORII and Mopar bar with p3 controller and seven pin plug was fitted with Cooper AT/3's. here is our progress report:
NEGATIVES:
The usual aircon issues with varying temp controls etc.
No mud flaps. A serious issue for remote travelers.
POSITIVES:
fuel economy with caravan! Varied from 10.5 l/100 From Broken Hill to Menindee (following the Darling down dirt road at leisurely pace) 11.7 from Cameron Corner to Innaminka. 13.00 on the bitumen run 350k to Thargominda at 95-100kph. To date I have traveled 2200 k with the van and averaged 12.1 litre/100k. By way of comparison.... Mate with a Pajero and similar van uses around $40 more fuel every fuel stop, and another with a Landcruiser 80 series ute with no van uses 5 to 10 liters more per fill.

8 speed auto box....Magic! Cannot fault it, always in the right gear at right time. silky smooth changes, usually run economy but paddles are excellent for fine control and braking. ACC works well no issues.

VM Motori motor. Heaps of power, nice growl when asked to respond. Quiet refined high class Euro diesel. The motor has been using a bit more oil than I would have expected. 2 liters in 3000k. It is not an easy motor to check oil levels with.very sensitive to slopes and the dip stick seems to accumulate oil as you withdraw it no matter what. This is making it difficult to get a clear reading.

DUST: With all black trim I thought this would a big issue, but no signs of dust getting past the seals. This is a very tight vehicle.

SUSPENSION: Quadralift worked perfectly and on demand. Excellent for 4'10 wifer to get in and out. Valuable aid when hitching or leveling for overnight camp stops. Works well in OR1, not too stiff. In Aero the ride is first class luxury. The road between and Innaminka and the QLD border was a shocker! As bad as I have experienced with a van. The Old Strezilecky was not much better but the car handled it with ease. No body rattles or squeaks to date. This is going to be one serious remote area tug if Jeep Aust give it the mandatory back-up with servicing and spares.

EVIC gauges: The ability to monitor engine oil temp, transmission temp, and configure the dash to suit is a great aid. I air-down a lot in these areas and the ability to check tyre pressures in transit is reassuring.

RADIO ETC. works well, easy to tune and store stations no issues as yet with exception. I get an intermittent thump from the radio when using AM Channel. Minor issue.Music works via blue tooth phone, SD card and USB iPod.

If the Big Jeep continues to perform in this fashion we will be two very happy little campers!
Great information! Thanks for the post. I am itching to hitch up and go! We are doing a trial run to The Flinders Ranges in September and then heading off for 6 months in April. Just need to buy 18" rims and tyres. Anyone selling?

My number two pet peeve, variable & inconsistent speed drivers.

80kmh Zone, lets do 89, no 70, no 80, very mild corner better do 65.
80kmh zone, lets do 60, changes to 60kmh zone, letís do 70. WTF!!!!!
And then, when you get to a point when you can overtake, they speed up to the limit! And then slow down again! Argh!

Just a 'heads up'. I removed my front number plate to refit the number plate frame, found that the plate was held on with self tapping screws into the plastic front bumper, one of the screws was loose due to the thread being striped out. Replaced the lot with SS screws and nylock nuts.
