The biggest hurdle to fixing them is an obvious one... Jeep Australia.

Only reason I posted this was because Weber asked for an explanation, I was trying to explain to Webber that not only is there software but each major component has a logic board that has firmware embedded that may be able to get updated. We could go back and forth all day with semantics.. However.. Is there a uconnect problem? Yes, Is the uconnect problem just SW or a combination of SW / FW? Unknown.. Are some issues caused by the user? Unkown.. May HW need to be replaced? Unknown.
Summed up nicely Aus.

I found this for you Webber.

Umm... I've just been doing a general (non Chrysler/Jeep) search on issues with auto headlights.

Seems MB's have had the same issue. Infact MB has coined the phrase the 'Blue Sky Effect' Boy, those MB owners on their forum can get very very cranky.

Interesting, seems we're not the only ones.

That was a good idea SJandL. Good to know they are experiencing same problems for twice our money.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

http://sphotos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...54051317_n.jpg

A 36 year old female had an accident several weeks ago. It was raining, though not excessively when her car suddenly began to hydro-plane and literally flew through the air. She was not seriously injured but very stunned at the sudden occurrence! When she explained to the Police Officer what had happened, he told her something that every driver should know -

NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON..

She thought she was being cautious by setting the cruise control and maintaining a safe consistent speed in the rain....
But the Police Officer told her that if the cruise control is on,your car will begin to hydro-plane when the tyres lose contact with the road, and your car will accelerate to a higher rate of speed making you take off like an aeroplane. She told the Officer that was exactly what had occurred. The Officer said this warning should be listed, on the driver's seat sun-visor -

NEVER USE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE ROAD IS WET OR ICY,

Along with the airbag warning. We tell our teenagers to set the cruise control and drive a safe speed – but we don't tell them to use the cruise control only when the road is dry.

The only person the accident victim found who knew this, (besides the Officer), was a man who'd had a similar accident, totaled his car and sustained severe injuries..

NOTE: Some vehicles (like the Toyota Sienna Limited XLE) will not allow you to set the cruise control when the windshield wipers are on.

Please read above:
Is there any reference to the above in our Manuals....I'm too lazy at the moment to check it out.

Nearly time to watch the worm.

If you're not watching the worm then some evening reading could include:-

Indeed it does (page 102)

Warning:

You should switch off the ACC system:

- When driving in fog, heavy rain, heavy snow, sleet, heavy traffic and complex driving situations (ie: in highway constuction zones).

(and a few more other things as well).
My manual sits in front of my PC. How sad am I?

ETA: Happy worm watching Webber.

What idiot would even attempt using CC in heavy snow anyway?

Ok will do, forgot to mention that the carpet looks great, cannot tell it has been treated.
Good luck with the twins, we had a new grand daughter two weeks ago and another grand child due in a couple of weeks.

Yeah probably not the best example as there are so many other foreign variables (FYI none of those things were related to my issue), but there are plenty of others examples available, DVRs, Consoles, HRMs, Bluetooth communication, polar bears etc... all have same hard ware, same firmware, but get different results for different users.
The nightmare I had with a DVR, that many others experienced, and then many more had no issue.

If the problems with Uconnect stopped the car from being a car like the firmware stopped my DVR from being a DVR then we would be going terminal at Jeep.

My advise to people is that unless it is really adversely effecting you, put it down as an annoyance that will be fixed and try not to be fixated on it.
