Gee, that's a great price. Was that a custum order, or one already in stock?
Also, do you mind telling me the broker name? PM if you prefer.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi to All,

I'm not a great 'poster' to the threads on this site but have been around for a while. My MY2014 Bright White Overland, Indigo/Brown with ORII was delivered on 28 June and I have 3k+ on the clock. I have the usual UConnect problems (hot/cold climate control) headlights coming on in bright sunshine when on auto and screen goes blank at times and needs a reset.

Awaiting the UConnect update/fix like everyone else - have had the climate control re-calibrated twice but the problems come back after a couple of days.

Was told by the Dealer Service Manager that he thinks the headlight issue and the climate control issues might be connected as evidently both the headlights and the climate control use the sensor on the dash for different purposes. He thinks when the climate control issues are fixed with a UConnect update the headlight issue might be resolved as well.

On another matter - I wonder whether any of you have my difficulty in checking the oil level in the CRD. After the motor sits overnight, when I check the dipstick it reads low - when I put it back in and pull it out again it shows full - work that one out!

I will post my UConnect issues on the other thread.

In summary, the best vehicle I've ever owned - a bit of a change from the old Jackaroo. I've now given up driving the wife's G6E Turbo - not as much fun! Consumption around town low 9s. On the highway at 105km/hr low 7s and at 120kms/hr low 8s.

I also need to update the signature statement below - no longer waiting.

Hi Dutch,

I decided to go for a walk and check my Overland in the garage, it gave me an excuse to go sit in it and then check the oil.

Firstly I pulled the manual out and it specifically stated that to not check your oil while the engine is cold as it leads to inaccurate readings. It states that the best time to check it is 5 minutes after shutting down the engine.

Secondly, manuals are no fun so I checked anyway Since it was my first check, I didn't realise that the dipstick was a dark colour and I thought it was full and then some. It wasn't until I dipped and took another look that I saw it was 2/3rd's full. So I'm no help there

I did have fun though, sitting in my Jeep and looking around under the hood

Have I said, 'I love this truck' before

Thanks iwantanotherjeep - The first reading you got may have had no oil on the dipstick at all and it is only when you re-insert the dipstick you get a reading.

Lot to be said for these manuals - I need to do a bit more reading!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

In regards to the a/c issues, we have had no dramas with it heating up on one side but we never have it synced. Our UC screen hasn't never played up either. Done just over 2000km now. Headlights have turned on in the arvo before earlier then I'd expect but the sensor was always in shade so that'd be why - once it hits the sun again it flicks back off after a little bit.

Our only strange thing happening so far is lately when I start the car on my driver preference (setting 1) my ventilated seat automatically turns on low. I don't know if I had that on when I set the preference and it saved it with it, don't think that's even an option so not sure on that one.

Just got a call from the dealer regarding all the issues with my CRD Limited (the usual aircon, cruise control , auto headlights etc). The aircon issues should be resolved by an update which is currently being worked on and should hopefully be ready in 4-6 weeks. This update should also correct other Uconnect issues that people have been having eg. missing info on dash
Not sure if this will correct the over sensitive auto headlights but I'm hopeful it will. They could not replicate my faulty cruise control however ( turns off on random occasions when set+ is pressed) but have launched a service case for it anyhow. Looks like I'll have to get it on film to prove I'm not completely bonkers Anyhow like the rest of you I remain hopeful that all will be fixed and we can just get back to enjoying what is otherwise an awesome car.

The wife is really keen on the sunroof, but if I can swap it for QL that will make me happy. And that's the most important thing

On another note, I was under the impression the dealers were only allocated stock once they are on the ship. But the dealer said that they know exactly what they're getting at time of build.
Is this true?
Swapping Sunroof for QL?. That's a difficult one because I would not like to give my QL away which is standard on my Overland (along with the Sunroof). But more importantly, I would not want to let my wife down. A lot of people will knock the sunroof. I have never had one before but doubt I will ever by a car again without one. It's Winter with day temps often in single figures here so have not been able to drive it with the roof open but having driven my Overland now for 2 months with a sunroof I will never close it over (unless Summer heat forces it upon us). It is so good, we love the light that bathes us. On the odd occasion we have closed the roof we quickly open the cover again because it feels so closed in and dark now.

I will testify you're not bonkers! I haven't figured out exactly how I do it, but occasionally I trip out the CC too. It only comes good when I stop the engine. Mine seems to be related to the 'resume' button.

Lucky you! Do you have the A/C problem? I do, and I re-tested the Bluetooth theory today and it is like I said - on cable the VR works for songs, but not on Bluetooth. If you don't have the A/C problem, maybe you are symptom free.
