Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

To those who have driven GC,

What have you done for engine break-in, and how long has it last?

Thanks

My owners manual states 1500 km break in and to vary the speed and give it some brief full throttle acceleration from time to time.
Also recommends not to tow any heavy loads, like caravans etc.
So far I have done 1100km, and the engine is very responsive and as smooth as.

Overland CRD:
My Manual says don't exceed 80-90 km/h until 500km. I observed this and ended up driving 100km to Canberra at 90 . Otherwise as Gforce says don't work the engine hard util 1500 km. I am waiting for this before testing offroad.

SNUKE has answered this one, but to add to the query I purchased them from Amazon, cannot tell you the freight charge as I bundled the order with some other product and then had it sent to my US shipping address and then forwarded on to my home address as one package.

No, just drive normally but say if you are in a 100 km zone vary your speed slightly every 15 mins or so so that the motor can ' bed in' correctly. Around the Burbs just drive as you would in any other vehicle.
Only other thing I would recommend is on a cold start give the engine a couple of mins to warm up a little and be gentle on the throttle until operating temp is reached. On shut down let the engine idle for a minute or two before shutdown. This last procedure is important if you own a CRD.

Good procedure early in an engines life adds life to the engine overall.
I think most would agree with me on this.

They came standard with the car.

I am also finding that I am getting more attached to the car . It seems to be more driver responsive friendly than the Porsche .
A bit more nimble , I am on the northern beaches of Sydney and so far nomonenhas looked twice at the srt . Weird .
Also the misses hates the Goliath wheels on the SRt so they maybe for sale ,
Personally I like the wheels , but seems I'll be adding a set of 22" black 10 spokes .
Maybe for sale complete set $3000.00 there is a set on gumtree for 4 k
I tried launch control saw a 4.6 but then no quicker than a 5.1
I'll get a 4" exhaust added see if that helps tint goes on tomorrow CAI installed and catch can already

Hi Lewie77,

Awesome looking ride!
I've noticed on a few of the aussie SRT's the HEMI 6.4 badges on the front guards.
Are these fitted by CJA on all SRT's in Aus?
