Laughs.... adelaide jeep dealers must be all the same.... hopefully salmo has more luck with the one on glen osmond road as I wouldn't recommend the one on south road to anybody.

I'm getting sick of the line "I'll find out and get back to you" with no return call.

Who have you been talking to if you don't mind me asking? I have has brief dealings with Richard from south road and he called me more than I called him. Couldn't complain about the service from him, just ended up getting one in wa faster and nearly for the same price as over here

Rizzuto / Bob,

Spoke my dealer in Melbourne a few days ago.
They believe they will see the car early next week.
Hopefully pick it up next thurs / fri
They are only 5 mins from Prixcar so that would speed the delivery up a little.

I agree and I am planning to do the same thing and look again at a SRT/summit/Overland when the WK3is released.

But there is something tragic about planning a new car purchase 5 years away.

I have been getting a good run from Gordon, Glen Osmond Rd. I have been in a few times since I signed up and have always been welcomed and questions answered quickly. My car gets built next month but already have my E number.
Also today I picked up a MY14 sales/promo booklet, they only became available yesterday. Much nicer than the daggy printer copy I had.

South Rd never even bothered to call me back, even after 2 test drives and price discussions.

What you need is not a VIN or VON but a "E" number. At the very least, your dealer should be able to confirm to you the date the order was accepted by Jeep Australia, and with that an estimated date of construction.
Bugger, I'll chase them for that at least. I remember when I did the sale, the dealer boasted about how many Richmond players he sells GC SRT to. I can only imagine who will get allocated stock first.

The problem is that dependent on colour, trim etc this could draw out for ages. I was initially told end of September but they still don't have any confirmation from Jeep Australia, which I believe has been compounded by an office move for JA at the moment, so no info is being fed back to dealers. Based on my colour and trim and the fact that I have still not got one assigned to me yet, the more I think mine will change to a factory order and not see the vehicle to 2014. Maybe I might be able to get a Summit then lol !
Hi Andy, yeah your story sounds very similar to mine. Luckily with the SRT there aren't too many options, but to rely on random allocations of common colors/trims/options would be particularly bad if you got something a little more unique.

Awesome, that's my SRT. Far out... I'm going tomorrow to at least take a look! Thanks G6JET. Is it acceptable to cancel my order (which I have no confidence even exists) to buy elsewhere? I did leave a deposit also. Probably not... Sucks

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

1000 KM Service Update.

Just thought I would bring you all up to date re my experience at the Chrysler Jeep Dealership.

My GC Limited with 18" wheels went in for its 1000 km Service (actually had 1500 km's)

This is what I reported and the responses I received:

Fault 1. This was the Uconnect not turning on and required a reset. Response: Was unable to correct, will lodge a case with Chrysler.

Fault 2. Air Con blowing hot on drivers side and cool on passenger side.
Response: Confirmed fault and know about the problems with the Air Con, will lodge a case with Chrysler.

Fault 3. Headlights come on in daylight hours when passing through shade and will not reset to daylight operations.
Response: Confirmed but found to be normal as the headlights are very sensitive, suggest stop the vehicle and restart as the key needs to be recycled. (I am not happy with this answer).

Fault 4. Navigation software needs updating as speed zones in my area do not agree with the Nav, it tells me I am speeding when I am not.
Response: Have submitted this question to Chrysler

Fault 5. Cannot get the Voice recognition to work at all.
Response: We don't know either, need to speak to a Salesperson about it.

Fault 6. Lid over the battery wont stay in place as the battery terminals are hitting the underside of the lid.
Response: Battery is sitting a little too high, only fix is to open up the clips so that they hold better.

Apart from the above the GC is running exceptionally well, no mechanical issues. I have had my Free Mud Flaps Fitted and they look great.
The other issue that we all have commented on in the past is the what brand of engine oil to use in the CRD, my dealer said they use Castrol Professional A1 5w / 20. I am not sure if this is a synthetic or not, the owners manual states that the CRD requires a Synthetic Oil.

Also the Dealer said our owners manuals are out of date in some areas and that future vehicles will come with a CD. (maybe this is why Chrysler are fitting CD Players?

Lastly and a little worrying, I found a wheel nut loose a week ago so I decided to check them all, my manual states that the wheel nuts should be tightened to 176nm which is very very tight, so much so that my W&B torque wrench was at its absolute limit. I asked the service guys about this and they said to tighten to 130nm, so question is who is right?
Need to try and contact Chrysler about this as it is a safety concern and also low and behold anyone trying to loosen the wheel nuts at 176nm with the supplied wrench.
(This is something we all need to follow up on asap).

Nissan had a major recall regarding incorrect tightening of wheel nuts when alloy rims are used. The wheels were literally coming off the vehicle.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Great post above... thanks. Loads of info for us all.

With alloy wheels it is not possible to torque once and be done with it. They must be re-torqued 300-500km later. Customers do not like hearing it, so some mechanics just go a bit over spec so they don't have to hear the whining.

One seventy something seems ridiculous?

Ciao,
Steve

Before travelling out to Caroline springs give them a call and speak to Adam or Joel just to check on colour, they called it black but may possibly be max steel, both have been pretty good to deal with, always kept me up to date with my vehicle.
