Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Thanks SJandL here's hoping that we can pick it up on the weekend, our eldest son is buying our current car from us and he is just as keen to get into his ' new car'.
I'm not liking the sound of aussie jeep dealers record with customers though, this is the most expensive vehicle we have ever purchased and whilst l agree it's worth the money l'm not looking forward to any of the gremlins or having to chase service people over warranty issues, not to mention having to wait for the reversing camera, this little shorty is counting on it to see out the back.

Took the Wee Beastie for a nice drive up to Broome for a long weekend, I am surprised how fast it goes when you really put your foot down.

Totally, utterly, jealous. I could easily hit the road now thinking about what a bit of Broome Time might be like right now

Ciao,
Steve

He also enquired if I had reported these issues... well yes... 3 days after picking it up and it would have been sooner but you weren't open... two weeks ago.... and by the way yesterday when I was ensuring that the towbar which was part of the original order was going to be installed today....

What... you are needing the towbar to be installed today as well... who did you arrange that with and your chances are slim.

After I laughed he said I could always just leave with the car now.

He was able to help me with one issue.... the issue in relation to a bubble in the tint which they arranged on the drivers door window.... his response with a smile was "you will have to take that up with the company that installed it... it isn't our problem."
You did well not to punch him in the face. I'm at a loss as to why someone would think it's a good idea to wind up an already displeased customer. It's just madness.

How far to the next dealer? I've already sorted out my "Plan B" if things don't go well at the dealership of purchase. They seemed happy to take the vehicle on if I chose to come across.

Cheers,
Steve

They do love an open road and so quiet, it is easy to go over the limit, I love this car and so do the police they even sent me a picture of her, hadn't seen her from that angle before

That's a very eloquent way of putting it

Service update....

1. Ac problem...
Chrysler are aware of the problem and are developing a software update to correct issue.

2. Seat heating - low not working.... tested and confirmed low settkng to be operating to minimum setting... service guy rang and said minimum is 12 degrees so unless it is really cold you won't even notice it... and high is working at maximum, which is 35 degrees..... I take it that this isn't adjustable to meet the climatic conditions of the region

3. Bluetooth dropout..... its a samsung phone issue.... phone works fine with apple without dropout... gee and I thought bluetooth was bluetooth and wasn't phone base.... looks like american companies look after other american companies (wouldn't mind seeing that code)

4. voice command (steve's favourite subject) unable to fault voice command at time of testing (I don't know what they tested.... but will send them a video of it not recognising voice command for proof)

5. Seat not returning to position on start.... no fault found... but they advised that seat will not move back if 50 mm away from rear stop which isn't the case

6. Mirrors pointing down occasionally in reverse even though car not set up for this.... - require both sets of keys to set and recheck

7. Tow bar finally fitted

Now that's over.... I can write a letter to jeep australia and will await their response.

Production date of GC 1/4/13... looks like it was before lunch

We have 2 samsung phones paired with ours, and never had a drop out. Check the phone firmware, but ive had this conversation before with Toyota where their bluetooth wasnt compatible with the newer generation of phones, and said it wasnt their bluetooth, but the phones.....
Technology like this helps dealers pass the buck.... hang in there and ensure they take a serious look at it. Ive read somewhere on JG that the samsungs were more compatible than the iphone.... maybe a search will find it.

3: There are various Bluetooth specifications, but seriously, unless your phone is ancient it should be compliant. There have been dropouts discussed on the US side of things... have you tried leaving the phone in the front cupholder of the centre console to test if it is proximity related?

---------------------------------------------------------

5&6: I seem to recall reading some oddities regarding the "two key" system, and also getting some settings to actually reflect their position in U-Connect. I have definitely selected a setting which hasn't then worked despite the status showing as changed. I think it was to do with the ignition status at the time... or the time of the month. Apologies ladies, but you can't argue the truth!

Maybe start again and put one key out of service (w@nk term for inside the house) and turn off individual key settings in U-Connect. Go about trying to get everything to work as you want with one key, which may take a few goes based on my experience with some of the selections "sticking" despite what was indicated (eg: ticked, but still not doing it, and vise-versa). Once all is well, test for a while and see if everything holds as it should. When (if?) happy, re-enable the unique key feature and go about changing whatever is required for the second key.

This instruction is rather speculative, based on half forgotten forum readings, cloudy recollections of my own ad-hoc button pushing experiences, and a bit of a general technicians fault finding approach. I accept all amendments

Cheers,
Steve

Webber.

As promised. Got the girl back today after a sleepless night as she was away. Apparently it takes 6 hours to fit the reversing camera and then 3+ for the nudge bar according to the dealer. That with an alleged wheel alignment (which hasn't worked) only got her back this afternoon.

Regards

Adrian

Hi Peanut,

Do I see sidebars in that photo? What ones are they?
Cheers,

Sparky
