Any insights from others welcome. This is my first 4x4
The motor mags complained about the suspension topping out in off road ii in the my11 reviews. This is a limitation in suspension travel. It is the (small) cost of owning an awesome 4wd vehicle that is not built like a truck and all performs well on the black top that it will still spend most of its time on.

Webber, I laughed at the amputation suggestion. It is a solution but I suggest not the solution. Anyway I am looking at the possibility of fitting a footrest - perhaps wedging something at the corner of the floor plan. I drove my other half's Lancer the other day and the difference to leg comfort was stark.

Amazon.com: jeep
Just had a brain wave. Some motorists actually have driving shoes or slippers. Back in the early 70's we had those platform shoes, you know, the ones with about 2 to 3" of sole. Now if you could just get hold of a left foot platform shoe that could double up as a footrest under your foot.

Oh TJ - can I just add, I read out your fuel stats to my husband. His response - 'F@#$', that's outstanding compared to our Hemi. ('07)'. We average 16 on her and that's on a good day I think.

We agree with you though - it goes like the clappers when asked to.

The highway pulls 9's with the cylinder deactivation. A/c issue yes, but that's about it. The tow bar was a week late, but on now. Quadra Lift is awesome, the difference in height/clearance is great. Ventilation on the seats, the uconnect, the stereo, the ACC(amazing), the anti-collision(it works), the pana sunroof(keeps the kids happy), side steps are used by the little ones even on entry/exit height, remote tail gate, easy entry/lock exit, the great colour of the deep cherry red, the media centre swallowed a 4gig stick of music and the VR just spits out any song/artist you command, geezz and the list goes on,....did I mention it goes, I find myself slight jealous of the SRT 6.4 guys.Mmmm. ....Launch control.
Jeep should bring out Quadra-lift as standard, it's that good.
I have had enough of the "you brought a Jeep".
And "the worst thing about buying a Jeep is explaining to your parents you are gay".

I'm a convert, go Jeep. Kick Toyota, and have a great resale value.
maybe you sit differently to me. Yes, the stitching does reflect in the window but I thought how smart because the way it swoops across the dash creates a situation that the part in front of your line of vision reflects across the bottom of the window well below viewing area so it is no distraction at all. Interested to hear your VR with the stick can understand your commands because my listener either has hearing difficulties or I'm speaking the wrong lingo. I will keep practicing hoping that the software issues will be rectified when car is due to go back for first service.

DCR - Isn't it the best colour? That's a rhetoric question for all you 'Bright White' and 'Granite' owners.

I have also taken a look at the two SRT's ('13s) at school and thought ..'ummm...' but I quickly get over that. Completely impractical for our property.

One of the guys that owns one of them was having a squizzy at mine as he walked past one day and I wonder if he thinks...'ummmm... 8 speed transmission....ummm'

And as far as this:

I am so over hearing that.

Take the other day. Parked outside the deli to pick up a few things. Walk through the door. Accosted by two guys (waiting for their orders) that say ... You guessed it.

Actually yes I said, another one. That makes two now. Need to get a third.

Then they wanted to have a look at it. 'Do you mind?' they asked as they proceeded out the door and towards the car.

'Is it diesel?, is it a V8? (No), '8 speed tranny - nice'. 'Can we take a look inside' 'Wow - nice interior'.....

I'm so sick of the 'You bought a Jeep' being said to me that the sooner that CA/JA give their advertising agency/marketing people a new direction/theme to take, the happier I'll be.
I agree and disagree with you. I originally thought to order Cherry red but went bright white in the end and absolutely no regrets...looks gorgeous. Now, Deep Cherry Red looks fantastic when sparkling clean. However, saw one the other day on the freeway and it looks brown...ugh.
Their was a film of dirt over the car, and I don't think it took too much driving to accumulate that film of dirt in Melbournes weather but the effect was "dull, dull". No sparkling red but just dull brown colour. I really had to look twice and then a third time to confirm it was a Deep Cherry Red.
So, yes, Deep Cherry Red wins on the showroom floor but I'll go with bright white on the highway.

Ok, Ok... I agree with you Webber. I know you've told me before - I concede. It's a bugger to keep clean. I have ended up driving down our front paddock to avoid our long gravel, dusty driveway after I have cleaned her to get to the first gate. (note the I, not him - me, has cleaned her).

And also, now I'm nearly 6 foot (nearly but not quite) and I can't get to the top of her. Argghhhh... I need a step ladder. That is ridiculous. I left it the other day. I figured that 50% of the population are shorter than I am, so they wouldn't notice the thick layer of dust over the top.

Except I notice. Guess what I'm doing tomorrow?

I totally understand your frustration. We have only had a sealed road out the front for the past 10 years. Prior to that it was virtually a waste of time trying to keep a car clean which is such a shame when you have a brand new car and would dearly love to keep it a show piece. I wonder if anyone manufactures a commercial grade of "glad wrap". A roll about 2 metres wide. (I have seen them about 60cm wide). You could wash the car, wrap her up (quickly) in 2 metre wide glad wrap and once at the front gate simply peel it off and away you go, turning heads all the way down the road. And yeah, I did notice you & hubbies heights many posts ago. I've got a new respect for you guys. I'll do anything you want, especially your hubby who, with over 100Kgs with his height I'm not disagreeing with him on anything.

Thanks Gforce, funny thing, my wife said the same thing. Well, I think we'll forgo the sidestep, a couple of Gs in saving.

If anyone is out that way, West Orange Motors have 14 JGC of various configurations in the lot. I have nothing to do with them, just that I was out that way for work yesterday.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi all,
Picked up the new car the other day and wow it's certainly a step up in the luxury department over the Prado, it should be a comfortable trip up to Coral Bay next month. It drives nice and the 8 speed auto is great like everyone has mentioned (though still wish there was a manual option). It's the first car I've ever driven with the indicators on the left hand side, I found myself somehow indicating the wrong way on 3 occasions driving home from the dealership... My only gripe thus far is the optional single recovery hook, while it's usable it's way too recessed, hopefully someone sort out a way to fit the dual hooks soon. The Cooper ST's 275's give the rig a nice look too and the road noise isn't bad.
Wade
