Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi mate first up I would like to say thankyou for all the information you have provided here Ive been watching this thread for some time, are you at all able to confirm if that Laredo is equiped with QL? only reason I ask is this I hope to be the Grand my parents have had a deposit on since November! any light on this would be appriciated as the dealership has little to no idea about anything.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Milous, thanks for the update on first delivery to Oz ports. Can you keep feeding them to us as the dealers have no info at all. Ordered Dec 1 a 3.0 l Limited deep cherry with off road and luxury packs. Advised then April/May delivery to Brisbane, but dealer doesn't even have a build number. Maybe ??? July? Just road tested the Mercedes M class alternative in case it really blows out, but the Jeep is a better car.

Thanks Milous for the update. Can we order XFH and XF2 with an Overland CRD?

So I'm over in the States for work and I had some spare time and decided to go by the local Jeep dealership and hunt down a '14 GC. So I walk into the dealership and the first car I see is a Compass, I'm underwhelmed by it like it is Julia G. but look to my right as I continue to walk and I spy what looks like a '14 GC. Well I'm walking fast and I take another look and it's a false alarm, my heart is racing, it is a '13 SRT with a black grille. I keep walking and as the cars part and I come into the open, there she is in all her glory, the sun glinting off her body, she looks hot and I swear she is looking at me begging me to come closer but I slow my walk, I want to get a better appreciation of her whole body and her sexy lines.

Like a guy who has been away from his girl for 6 months I can't wait any longer. I rush forward, but this time I don't trip over like some anxious adolescent. I get up close to her and I'm in love. Pictures don't do her justice. I have in my mind, "they changed the grille!" and it skews my thoughts on this baby. I mean the grille on the '11-'13 is just raw aggression, it looks so intimidating and stands out in the crowd, it is the attention seeker in the room.

I wrestled with this thought but it wasn't until many hours later that I realised what I had felt. The old grille was just that, it was the old look, it was bold and aggressive and the attention seeker in the room, but it was ultimately old. The new grille is the girl who doesn't shout "look at me, look at me!", but she is the girl that when the crowd parts and reveals her, you know instantly that she is the one you want with the beauty that you can't explain leaving you breathless with no thought of the attention seeker.

If you have an order in for a '14 GC then make no mistake, you will love it. If you have any doubt about the look of the '14 and were thinking of getting a '11-'13, don't do it because I believe you will regret it. What I saw today was a black Limited with beige interior, the black is beautiful. If you have ordered black you will love it, you really will. So much so that if the Billet that I ordered turns up and it isn't saying to me,"WOW", I'm going to reorder a black. I checked out where the tow hooks were covered, nice coverage with a mesh that fits in nicely which doesn't look out of place. The beige interior was a two tone(didn't know that could be ordered) with dark floor and beige elsewhere. It looked spectacular and would love to have beige but I know how quickly you can destroy beige so I will stick with a black interior.

To those who are getting itchy feet, stand strong. You are in love with the right vehicle. I have heard the rhetoric, "do you think the '14 will get confused with the Cherokee or the Compass?", well I have an answer for this one, you would have to be an absolute moron to do this as the '14 is just so different and beautiful. The '14 really has an SRT look about it without being the SRT. The black Limited blended well with the plastic mouldings, not sure how it will look on the light colours in the Limited. I can imagine the Overland with the body coloured moulding looking the full package which is part of why I went the Overland. The Overland will have an SRT feel about it without the mouldings.

The tailgate is also a non issue. I also loved the chrome brow across the tailgate but I believe the new tailgate feels as classy and fits the new design better than the old.

Finally to sum it up in old man terms, it is like choosing between Madonna and Sophia Loren, the attention seeker who doesn't know she is old or the classy one who turns heads wherever she goes.

great post, thanks for taking the time to write this up! I too was in the camp of "Madonna looks pretty good, will we be getting Joan Rivers in the '14?". Others have said photos don't do the '14 justice and you've just confirmed that seeing her in person is believing. She's playing hard-to-get with us in Oz is Sophia....but as I hoped, it sounds like she'll be worth the wait. Thanks again......

I have even had a conversation with the CEO of Chrysler Australia Clyde and he indicated that if there was a business case they would consider it, however nothing from anyone and the production team are saying that there are other reasons to consider.....why it will not come to AU.

Only reason made the point about MB is that Chrysler shares a building with the MB guy's and after all of the discussion I was not able to get a half reasonable reason why Chrysler would not introduce the model, given it is almost the same as the Overland but more refined. Just does not make sense and I hope there is not some mateship that will keep the Summit from competing with the ML.

I was also referred back to my dealer or dealers in Sydney and I have now spoken to 4 from different sales groups and they know nothing about the new model so how can they assist, I know more about the new range and have educated them, crazy.

I have the choice to buy an ML350, BMW X5, Audi Q7, they all fit my budget, but having done alot of homework and seeing the Summit in the flesh, I cannot go past it. It would be a shame not to see it here on AU roads.

Regards.....JosephR
Hi Josephr.
Well all I can say is that the CEO has made a very bad judgement. They have underestimated the potential demand for the Summit. However, there will be me and many others who would be furious is they bring in the Summit now. Many Aussies are going to reluctantly purchase Overlands when they would have purchased Summits had it not been for the miscalculated decisions of the CEO. For Chrysler to bring in a Summit later would amount to a deception in my opinion. They will now have to wait for a complete model change before considering introducing it. It would be totally unfair for would be Summit owners who will be driving Overlands to find Chrysler belatedly introducing a Summit. I would not be able to describe my anger.

Hi, are you over there to collect some literary award or something. I want to hear more. We are all sitting here waiting for news and your way of describing this car was sensational. It will help us all to hang on (are you reading this Mark?) Seeing we will not get the Summit can you wet my appetite with a description on the Overland. I will be going with bright white with the light beige interior....have you seen one?

She is definitely not Joan Rivers! You won't be laughing at her and cringing at the same time.

No literacy awards here webber, unfortunately they only had one Limited in stock so I can't describe an Overland. However after seeing the Limited I fantasized about the Overland and I'm afraid to say I can't tell you what happened next
