Had the privilege of being chauffeured around in the back seat if our overland tonight, and noticed that the window switches don't illuminate at night. Is that the case for all of you also?

Articulation in uneven terrain does bad things when everything is leveraged together with a weight distributing hitch. Be careful... road use only.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll just wait and see when I hook up, just concerned about the WDH putting too much strain on the quadralift.

No, not the case. Wandered out and started her up and sat in the back.

3 things illuminated in the back (actually 4 - but 3 where the door is involved).

1 - Door opening handle

2 - Window switch up/down

3 - Door recess thingee that holds stuff

(4) - USB rear charging ports.

Now, it's not bright pink or green like Webber has it, but it's still illuminated.

Bulbs blown maybe?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi all, just letting you know I have just placed a request for my car (yet to be built) to be changed from an Overland to a Summit. Have asked for details on price difference and estimates for shipping first ones to Aussie, will let you know.

I was quizzing my girlfriend today, and without me giving it away, she recalled the dealer saying the Mopar tow system "knew you had a trailer connected and turned off the rear sensors". Glad I didn't swallow that load of jizz.

I don't know about mopar but I do know commodore tow fittings have a small magnet in the wiring plug cover. When open to accept a plug this disables the rear sensors. They have had this for years and it works fine as long as the stupid magnet stays in place. Lose the magnet and you lose rear sensors.

Oh it's not the dealership that is to blame for most of the problems we're experiencing. The parent company should terminate Jeep Australia's contract and take over the show.

Ciao,

Thanks SJ&L.
I thought it was supposed to. Everything else lights up, just not the window switches. (both left and right)....

That's a simpler approach than what I was dreaming up Erina Could be something to make up, but it doesn't sound like something I can get rich by selling though!

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Milous, good to see your nice new hat in our neck of the woods.

Do you have any news on timing for a new trailhawk down here?

Well, my faith in Chrysler and their product took a turn for the worst tonight.
Driving home and get a strange chemical smell in the cabin a few blocks from home.
Pull into the drive and notice smoke / steam coming out from under the bonnet.
Step out of car straight into a puddle of boiling hot water on my driveway.
Looks like a heating hose has ruptured or come loose and drained the entire contents of the cooling system.
Popped the bonnet, and the burnt acrid smell made my eyes water, and seems there is not a drop of water left in the cooling system.
Not bad for an SRT that is 7 days old and has less than 500km on the clock
I'm not sure how long the engine ran with no water, got absolutely no warning or alarm to indicate an issue.

Maybe you didn't hear that the SRT now doesn't require coolant.... i'm sure that's the response you will get from Chrysler Australia...

Just check that the rear windows aren't deactivated using the switch on the drivers door. If deactivated then rear window switches don't light up.
