My dealer called yesterday to book my Limited 14 in for a new U-connect to be installed. Not too sure why as apart from one time 'freezing up' it has been working ok ever since. He said Chrysler Jeep must know something that requires the unit to be replaced, so in it goes on Tues for the 'fix' ?
My GC is performing faultlessly apart from the air con issue, but even that has its days where it works ok.
It's good to hear there is finally a fix for the air con so at least we can put that one to bed... So to speak.

That's the usual line with diesel engine problems. Hopefully a computer initiated DPD burn fixes the problem and they choose not to hurt you too much for doing it.

Do you fuel up at mainly the same servo up there, or do you get around a bit and fill up at various locations?

Cheers,
Steve

Hey gforce, do you rkn it might just be the update getting done? Or actually replacing the whole unit.

It'll be interesting to see if anyone else gets calls about that.

Always use the same servo up here, but did fill up the tank in Broome the week before. It has only done 100km on this tank so I might get a sample and have it checked.

That's a good idea Peanut. And sorry to hear about the loss - hopefully only a short loss!

If the sample turns out to be dodgy, let us know, as I'd like to avoid that servo in the future travels!

Surely, if it is fully functional in the States it should adapt to here.
Webber - Here's Steve's thread with regards to the Nav/VR issue. Page 7- Post 78 is where I've posted a vid for Willx as to how it is currently working. At least Will is now aware and as far as we know has reported the issue up the chain.

Thanks Sam, Sue, Sally, Sheena, Shona, Sheila, Shirley, Silvia, Sandra or whatever, but for the moment,
Dear "S",
Thankyou for the link. Have just read all the pages quickly and really need to read them all again to fully comprehend but it does appear that the Nav does not work with VR but Chrysler AU are trying to get a "flash" to fix it and they may not be found until 2016. In the meantime it appears not to be wise to play around with the software "oneself" because if you stuff it up then your dealer will want to charge you $140 something per hour to rectify what you have done to your nav.

That is a shame because I am one who uses a Nav constantly, maybe several times a trip. I do use my vehicle for business purposes also. I have to stop and actually input it manually so the VR would have been excellent had it worked. It appears it does work in the States, according to the link, and on other makes etc. Looks like we all have to wait a long time with the hope the fix will be found. Thankyou again for the link.
Yours Faithfully,
Webber.

OK.....Earlier, I did ask on this forum if anyone has reported if the Nav works with VR. Still hoping someone will come on with a positive response....Hello, out their!!!!!!!!

Maybe we could get an American to record himself inputting nav VR commands and send us the audio clip, then we play it to our car!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

It's not the accent though. It doesn't matter whether that's American, Kiwi, Aussie etc.

My understanding from Will's posts was that it was a coding error whereby it is not expecting to hear English (regardless of accent) for that part of the Nav system.

Anybody speak French or Spanish (the other two languages Uconnect understands?). Try saying 'Navigate to xxxxx' in one of those languages.

It won't work of course. - just kidding.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

hola hola mi pobre montón de jeep tragics !

I have a friend in New York and he said it (VR) understands Spanish as well.
He said to try saying this phrase to it and you will never have another problem with it!!
Let me know how you go with it and I will try it on my new MY14 (whenever I get it, probably have it for a Christmas pressie)

Here goes,

Háblame usted tonto brebaje VR Jeep o te llevo a la trituradora simsmetal más cercana y usted es la historia que tonto pedazo Jeep de mierda!

(Google translate may help)
