Many Aussies are going to reluctantly purchase Overlands when they would have purchased Summits had it not been for the miscalculated decisions of the CEO. For Chrysler to bring in a Summit later would amount to a deception in my opinion. They will now have to wait for a complete model change before considering introducing it. It would be totally unfair for would be Summit owners who will be driving Overlands to find Chrysler belatedly introducing a Summit. I would not be able to describe my anger.
Webber,

Yes it is disapointing that all the information that is around at the moment suggest that Chrysler will not bring in the actual Summit model, however all may not be lost as Chrysler AU do in the past upspec their Overland model, so I am hopefull that they will do the same in this case and the Overland will be close to the Summit...but no guarantee.

Also, keep in mind that in the US, the actual name for the Summit is "Overland Summit" so maybe this will give us hope.

One thing that has surprised me is that when I have spoken to the dealers, they know nothing and have had no input in the decision of what they will sell in the future. When I showed them the new Summit, they all agree with the comments I have made that many people would be interested in the Summit over the bland looking Overland model.

What it needs is people like yourself and otheres that are interested in the Summit to voice their feelings loud and clear on this site, to their dealers and directly to Chrysler AU so that they know what the people want. That way and the Clyde the CEO of Chrysler said, there would be a business case for introducing the Summit.

Maybe you should hold off for a short while if you can and see how things pan out and see what Chrysler actually do. Like you, I have put my money where my mouth is and put a special build order in that is conditional on Chrysler delivering the car I am looking.....hoping for. I am looking for a Overland/Summit, Deep Cherry Red, with beige/brown interior, and more importantly the 19 Premium Speakers Including Subwoofer Harman Kardon® Logic7® GreenEdge Amplifier sound system which is to die for.

Maybe we should start a new thread titled - WE WANT THE SUMMIT and have everyone put their name on the list of supporters, that way it will be very clear what we want, are you in?

Regards....JosephR

It will help us all to hang on (are you reading this Mark?) Seeing we will not get the Summit can you wet my appetite with a description on the Overland. I will be going with bright white with the light beige interior....have you seen one?
Webber,

I think you will be OK with the combination you are looking for, what will be interesting is the look, Zac the production planner from Chrysler suggested that I speak to my dealer about retrofitting the wheel arch trims, front and rear bumper and side skirts of the Summit..........stupid I know especially when you hear that the new production facility they have in the US can do custom changes on the fly, doesn't make sense.

If I was going to go down that path, I would get the SRT8 parts except the bonnet and make an Overland look more like the SRT8, Summit look is still OK but why not go all out. I know what you are saying.....then just buy the SRT8, well it's just I don't want the V8, I am interested in the V6 CRD for the fuel ecconomy, but I still want something that looks good on the road as I do not do any off roading.

I hope we will alll see some sense come into this argument and discussion and that Chrysler hears our plees and comments.

Regards......JosephR

Yes, I would be in BUT I have been waiting a year for my car and I still have months to go. I actually purchased a JGC a year ago and after waiting 6 months they got me the wrong car. Unless they are going to decide on a Summit and act very quickly I am just not going to get one. That's why I will be so mad if they decide to bring in a Summit AFTER I get an Overland. I am really disappointed in Chrysler Australia who have made a bad judgement call. As a result of them not following Canada, Europe and I suspect many other countries they better not bring in that Summit.

MILOUS,
Thanks for all your help these past months. I am grieving and reconciling and trying to rationalize a mind change to just love those Overlands (not that Overlands are not good, they are very nice).....but if you get news of the impending Summit YELL OUT before too many Aussie guys over here collect their Overlands.
