Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Really no point in complaining to the dealer about the lack of reverse cam. Complain to Jeep Australia 1300 133079.

Dealer just told me that due to the l lack of wiring harnesses, they have apparently worked out how to modify the 2013 one to fit. .... desperate and dodgy...

Was asked if I was happy for them to do that to mine.

No thanks. I'll wait.

Well finally last Saturday I took delivery of my CRD Overland after a long journey. Originally had my heart set on a Summit after having seen it in the flesh in the USA at the launch but after a lot of negotiating with CJD Australia and even a discussion with Clive, I ordered an Overland. One of the main reasons was that the Summit has a limited range of interior colours and I really wanted the Light Frost Beige combination to go with my Deep Cherry Red. Also, as it turns out, feature wise, there is not too much difference between our Overland and the Summit, however the Summit will be up around the SRT price according to the discussions I had with the Marketing Director of CJD, so could not justify the extra cost.

My car is mostly going to be a city car with the occasional adventure over the curb onto a dirt track to get to the flying field, so no serious off road adventures. I mostly want it for the space to ferry around my RC helicopters and planes.

I have taken a whole pile of pictures and attached them for those who are still trying to decide on what they should order.

Options are, Towbar, Mudflaps all round, Door Entry Sill Guards, Front Glass Tint – darkest legally possible, Clear UV Tint on all other Glass as dark glass has no UV protection and Cargo Mat. Coming Stainless Pedals for all three will post pictures when fitted.

My firmware is 13.19.0 and so far things seem to be working OK, but the VR is a bit tricky. I am told that 13.28.0 is the current version in the US, is better and has a few extra features, one of which I am looking forward to, Auto Entry/Exit on Park. I am told the cars in production at the moment are past the 13.28.0 level of firmware, somewhere around 13.31.6, what that will do or fix, who knows and when it may get here, who knows.

Will post a second message with the Interior pictures.

Enjoy and thank you for reading my post…….regards, JosephR
I must admit that the light frost interior looks great, but for me, trying to keep it clean would be enough to negate getting it. Nice ride Josephr

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Joseph - you're a brave man getting that interior. Do you have children? Just kidding.

It looks great especially the exterior colour.

I had a random thought today. (That doesn't happen very often).

You know you've purchased a great car when the drive ends and you have parked and you feel sad. I'm a bit sad when I've arrived at wherever I needed to go.

Re: the towbar and wiring hitch - We have told the dealership to hold off the install until the first service at 10,000km. They have it and are ready to install it, but no hurry. If it's in for a day for its first service, they can do it then.

And if I'm honest, I'm delaying it as long as possible because as soon as the towing gear is attached to MY14, then husband will want to take it to all those weird places that he currently takes WK '07 too.

I'm not prepared to let her get scratched and scruffed yet.

Although, he did have an idea last night which I may be on-board with.

He 'wants' to replace '07 JGC with a 300c SRT. (Gangsta car )

I'm liking his thinking though. Why have 2 4x4's ?

To that end, when WK2 was getting the climate control update today, we had a sit in and good look at one. (and took the brochure home). Ummmmm...

That however would make us less of a Jeep Garage family and more of a Chrysler Garage family. Is that acceptable do you think?

Sammy's wife.... it would just make us jealous... so the srt rule would still apply.... if a jgc 2014 owner taps you on the shoulder you have to take them for a spin..

But is the jgc srt considered a 4wd.... or just a big truck on steroids... so you could always get the jgc srt and still not have 2 4wd's...

Hi there

I have a MY14 Limited and I can confirm the VR to navigate only works for "going home".

However If you say "navigate and then say an address" you get the response I'm sorry Speech destination entry not available for this country

To all those that have congratulated JosephR. Why not follow that up with a formal "thanks". A very helpful & informative post.
I suspect JosephR is a clandestine professional photographer because these pictures would have to be some of the "sharpest and clearest" posted todate. Would almost tempt me to exchange my bright white for Deep Cherry Red.....and that interior, wow, wow wow.

All we need to wait for now is a report from Joseph that the VR button works with Voice Recognition on Navigation.

Congratulations on being the owner of a lovely car. It puts that black Merc to shame. Deep Cherry Red is really suitable to additional "bling". I will wait in anticipation on the next lot of photographs with a dressed up Overland.

Naaahhh, stay with Jeep. Why not be the first to own a Summit. I will shed a "tear of joy" for you.

SJandL, spot on with that observation/thought (as shown above & copied from your most recent post). I bet there are many on this site who would fully support that view. I for one do. I think everyone has spoken highly of this car, apart from some minor problems which would be a disappointment. Is there anyone out their who is regretting their purchase?
