Webber, he thinks the Summit is too close to the Overland. I'm not unhappy with this thought of his. A friend at school has a 300c and I've always admired it. (It's a few years old but still the shape is basically the same).

Our only issue is our driveway. I threw a rock through the sump of our Berlina a few years ago - damn driveway, not my fault. I worry about any car that doesn't have a high wheel base - but I suppose I could always drive down the paddock next to the driveway. I do now, to keep MY14 clean.

ETA: Sorry, should clarify. The 300c SRT 8 speed is not currently available in Aust.

JosephR, one final comment before retiring for the evening.....that car of yours really needs some "ambient lighting", like deep cherry red colour. That would really set your "night" driving off. Congrats again.

Well the mofo's at Jeep have just rammed me a new one again. My SRT was originally slated for Sept ETA, then Nov and now they tell me Dec.

If anyone spots one in a dealer lot please let me know (preferably with Pano Roof & HK audio package).

Shoulda known they couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery!

SJand L,

Not brave, planned it, children are older now, no grand kids and my last car a Benz was Black on Black so wanted to get away from the whole dark scene.

Will take a few precautions and I am not into the 4x4 thing so I just have to keep her clean and polished. The planes and Heli's are not things that create much dirt so all should be good. Will be enjoying the drives to the Hunter Valley to sample some wine with friends, what more can I ask for.

Regards.......JosephR

It looks great especially the exterior colour.

I had a random thought today. (That doesn't happen very often).

You know you've purchased a great car when the drive ends and you have parked and you feel sad. I'm a bit sad when I've arrived at wherever I needed to go.

Re: the towbar and wiring hitch - We have told the dealership to hold off the install until the first service at 10,000km. They have it and are ready to install it, but no hurry. If it's in for a day for its first service, they can do it then.

And if I'm honest, I'm delaying it as long as possible because as soon as the towing gear is attached to MY14, then husband will want to take it to all those weird places that he currently takes WK '07 too.

I'm not prepared to let her get scratched and scruffed yet.

Although, he did have an idea last night which I may be on-board with.

He 'wants' to replace '07 JGC with a 300c SRT. (Gangsta car )

I'm liking his thinking though. Why have 2 4x4's ?

To that end, when WK2 was getting the climate control update today, we had a sit in and good look at one. (and took the brochure home). Ummmmm...

That however would make us less of a Jeep Garage family and more of a Chrysler Garage family. Is that acceptable do you think?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Greg,

Thank you for the kind words, I just have a good camera and Photoshop to resize them, don't know about the professional photographer thing...

I have done just 300Km and tried the VR mostly with my phone, can have the system call most people but she does stumble and for some reason she does not like "Call Home" maybe she is telling me that she does not want to go or call home, if I ask her to "dial the number" it works OK.

I really think that the whole VR system will need to have some work on it as the Benz was great and could understand anything you could throw at it, even if you had a cold or flu. Maybe with the newer version of firmware coming soon the VR system will get some improvments.

Does any one know of a place on CJD US web site where you can post suggestions or improvments to UConnect firmware and features? That would be the place for some of this forum's members to be active on.

Have a great day and I hope you are enjoying your ride, Regards....JosephR

I suspect JosephR is a clandestine professional photographer because these pictures would have to be some of the "sharpest and clearest" posted todate. Would almost tempt me to exchange my bright white for Deep Cherry Red.....and that interior, wow, wow wow.

All we need to wait for now is a report from Joseph that the VR button works with Voice Recognition on Navigation.

Congratulations on being the owner of a lovely car. It puts that black Merc to shame. Deep Cherry Red is really suitable to additional "bling". I will wait in anticipation on the next lot of photographs with a dressed up Overland.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

That's just bollocks DCRSRT - absolute rubbish.

None at Macarthur Jeep that we saw today I'm afraid. Forgetting the SRT's, not even Overlands were there as demo's.

Wandered over to the Honda dealership whilst we were there though (a stones-throw away). Lovely guy (unfortunately we were not in the market for a Honda), but he did mention that he had heard that Chrysler is not keeping up with the demand for vehicles. You don't say...

Joseph - I was only kidding about the kids. Lovely car and DCR - well what can I say. Best colour - It was our choice as well.

Enjoy.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Greg,

The idea of some additional ambient lighting has crossed my mind but I don't think the disco scene you have is where I will go. I have looked at some LED lighting strips and I can mount so I will most probably do my own thing with a similar blue which is already in some place, will make sure it is subtle.

Next thing on the way is stainless steel Pedals for all three, when I fit them I will ost some more pics of how they look, should be done in a few weeks, waiting for them to ship.

Keep well....regards, JosephR

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hello Everyone,

I have been having an active discussion on the UConnect 13.19.0 forum page which is part of the VIP area, you need to be a member to gain access, and Will has been keeping many of us up to date with the changes to the firmware. The latest firmware for AU is 13.19.0 and I recently asked a few questions about the versions in Australia and the US and the reply is below. It sheds some light into the workings at the moment and why there is a difference between the US and International Cars, i.e. AU.

Have a read and I hope it will help answer some questions and most probably start a few more.

Kind regards, JosephR

Quote: Hello Willx,

I agree with others, thank you for your help with all of the information.

Do you know when 13.28.0 or 13.31.6 or newer will be released in Australia or is it way off.

Is there any way to find out what new features will be included in these releases or things that will be fixed or improved.

The biggest concern that I have is VR and it's ability to recognise commands. I have no end of problems with it understanding "Call Home" any way I try it it will not recognise this set of words. Tried more complex instructions and it does them with ease, so don't understand.

Appreciate any comments or information you can find.

Thank you.......regards, JosephR

Joseph,

I know about your NAV problems down there and that they locked you guys out of being able to do street address by voice. I was prepared to provide some updates etc. to get you guys going with that stuff however I found out for some reason the North American updates had much of the international stuff stripped out of them.

My understanding is that they are supposed to go to 1 platform for the updates similar to prior generation radios (RHR/RHP/RHW and the recent 2.184 release).

Frankly SOX has some better connections with the actual people at the top right now and we have been in discussion for many months about the updates. Neither of us really understand why they have broken this up by region but the guess is originally that there were so many functionality problems with the North American ones from the get go that they were rushing them out the door without fully testing mulitlanguage etc. Sadly as OZ gets lumped in the same group as every other export, it gets hung up waiting for the international version.

Last I checked they were still installing 13.19.0 on Export but I was expecting even those to change to 13.31.6 very soon. I have yet to see a single Export installation made available and SOX has very good connections for that stuff, so right now we are still blindfolded and in limbo on those. Other than knowing some of the fixes I have listed already in this thread I have not seen a fix marked "corrects Voice Routing Export"

Trust me when I see them I will jump into some of the various OZ threads on this and let everyone know.

Will,

Joseph, I love it. I don't know how you keep finding them, especially those chrome headlight surrounds. I would buy both but would like to see them in the flesh or have a member confirm they are as good as the pic above and the pic of the headlight surrounds you sent me. Not only are you a clandestine photographer you're also a "technocrat". Load the headlight eyebrows, the door stips, the ambient lighting onto that prestigious DCR Overland and get a pic to me ASAP. I am very impatient.

and Hymer (Rob), what do you think? Surely they would go well with your Summit grille inserts.

Good news from WIILX Joseph. Looks like only a matter of time (months) and we may have an update to give us voice control for our satnavs.
