Nice GC Overland Joseph!
I pick up my new '14 Overland in a weeks time so then that will make two Overland's on here carting big RC Helicopters & 3D planes around
I run mostly Align Helis, Precision Aerobatics planes & DJI quad for FPV, how about you?

Well finally last Saturday I took delivery of my CRD Overland after a long journey. Originally had my heart set on a Summit after having seen it in the flesh in the USA at the launch but after a lot of negotiating with CJD Australia and even a discussion with Clive, I ordered an Overland. One of the main reasons was that the Summit has a limited range of interior colours and I really wanted the Light Frost Beige combination to go with my Deep Cherry Red. Also, as it turns out, feature wise, there is not too much difference between our Overland and the Summit, however the Summit will be up around the SRT price according to the discussions I had with the Marketing Director of CJD, so could not justify the extra cost.

My car is mostly going to be a city car with the occasional adventure over the curb onto a dirt track to get to the flying field, so no serious off road adventures. I mostly want it for the space to ferry around my RC helicopters and planes.

I have taken a whole pile of pictures and attached them for those who are still trying to decide on what they should order.

Options are, Towbar, Mudflaps all round, Door Entry Sill Guards, Front Glass Tint – darkest legally possible, Clear UV Tint on all other Glass as dark glass has no UV protection and Cargo Mat. Coming Stainless Pedals for all three will post pictures when fitted.

My firmware is 13.19.0 and so far things seem to be working OK, but the VR is a bit tricky. I am told that 13.28.0 is the current version in the US, is better and has a few extra features, one of which I am looking forward to, Auto Entry/Exit on Park. I am told the cars in production at the moment are past the 13.28.0 level of firmware, somewhere around 13.31.6, what that will do or fix, who knows and when it may get here, who knows.

Will post a second message with the Interior pictures.

Enjoy and thank you for reading my post…….regards, JosephR

JosephR,
if the above link works then I AM BECOMING a fast learner (are u reading this Snuke).

We now have the chrome fog surrounds, the chrome eyebrows and the side door chrome strips. If I go ahead with this you won't get within 100 metres of my car without the darkest of dark sunglasses on.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

A Not So Happy Anniversary!!!

* On Monday the 16th September it will be TEN (10) months since I ordered my MY14 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo CRD from Frankston Jeep.
* Today, It is FOUR (4) weeks since it arrived in Melbourne, Australia on the Good Ship Tarago.
* Chrysler/Jeep/Fiat/Dodge/RAM/Alpha Oz etc has promised to deliver ASAP because of the extensive wait.
* But have they?? Oh No they havent!!
* Since then I have been promised on a weekly basis the delivery to Frankston Jeep.
* From the director of Chrysler Corporate Affairs, Chrysler Southern Region manager, his underling "Best man" to the main mob at Frankston Jeep. Still not delivered.

Reasons (Excuses/Buckpassing)

* Prix Car Deliveries (a subcontractor to Chrysler OZ) has the job of getting them of the wharf, prepping and delivering them to the dealers.
* Generally it takes 3 to 10 days to do this (Mine a month...so far)
* Prix Cars have mine in a "BUILD" process??
* It only takes 3 days to manufacture the whole damned vehicle in the first place!!
* I find out that the "BUILD" process involves a wash and clean, confirming the manufacturing info and putting a Compliance sticker on it. Been told a 2 hour job.
* So has my vehicle been subject to damage and undertaking repairs??
* How would I know???

At the end of delivery (Finally) I will be sending a critique to Chrysler/Jeep/Fiat/Dodge/RAM/Alpha Oz etc outlining my personal issues BUT also issues that many, many owners have with their Corporate style.

PS; I think I have been banned from Jeep Aust Facebook page (who cares) because I have asked the "WHEN" question too many times!!

Probably finish up in the rubbish bin but who knows.

I'm sure I will enjoy my MY14 Laredo by Christmas time. (2013 Christmas that is). It may even be called a MY15 by that stage!!

Hymer, sorry to hear of your hassles. I would be suspect about the delays and get something in writing from the dealer providing assurances that in no way has the vehicle been damaged in any shape or form since leaving the factory and if it has been found to be repaired and not declared then the vehicle is to be replaced with an equivalent new one with no charge to you. In other forcing their hand to declare one way or other.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hello Justin,

Know this is not the right thread, but here is a bit of info.

I have been building Heli's for more than 20 years and many are custom made to take advantage of the best at the time, for example, my 60 size electric is a Logo 500 with an Align 600 polished Aluminium head, flyes like it is on rails. I have also built a 1/3 scale Hughs 300C which has two 35cc chain saw motors.

Have a few foam - EPP planes which I have just recently started with, not the best plane flyer. Also had started to build a 1/3 scale Ryan some time ago, but that has stalled for MultiRotor's.

What I have really enjoyed is the TriCopter I built about 6 months ago, enjoying that more than the Heli's, stable with a HK KK2.0 FC and can throw it around and just have fun. Now in the process of building a VTail TCopter to use as a FPV platform. Have attached some pics of the frame design. Have the FPV gear for the TCopter just need to sort out the Goggles, waiting for the new HD Fatsharks.

Send me a PM and we can chat offline.

Regards.......JosephR.

Justin, this Joseph guy knows his stuff. He has even conned me into going down this path. I am about to purchase my first TriCopter. Joseph has assured me I will be able to fly that better than I can drive my Jeep.
