Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Interesting story. Seems like whoever your mother has been talking to is treating her as "a dumb blond who would know nothing about a car".
A few facts.
* Running out of fuel, providing no contaminants, will not damage the engine.
* The fuel gauge, and warning lights are there for a reason. i.e. to "prepare you for imminent stoppage" They are not there to indicate "I must stop immediately to prevent damage".
* The handbook makes no mention of the fuel tank being good for 3/4 only.
* Low fuel, and low oil pressure are 2 totally different issues.
* It was Jeep's decision to send a tilt truck, not your mother's, so why would your mother be liable for the cost? Surely the sensible thing would be to send a mechanic, assess the problem, then determine whether or not the car can be driven, or requires a tow.

Funny that Jeep would tell you a load of rubbish, never would have picked that.

Get them back, pay on credit card, dont use pin, rather sign, but not your signature....
Call the card company after the transaction, and tell them you lost the card the day before. The dealer will not get the funds, and you will have your car.

I cant believe the lack of customer service from Jeep in general. Its like they do a screen on potential dealers to make sure they dont have any customer service skills.

Can't let it run on less than 1/4 tank of fuel?? That's bs.

When they come from the factory and during pre delivey they have less than a 1/4.

Not sure if that would be legal.
But you may be correct as to Jeep Australia doing a pre screen on dealers
But thankfully not all dealers
My experience with Albion Jeep in Brisbane is that appear to want to help and make things right this may not be the case with some of there staff though.

Bad service comes from the Top down, if Jeep Australia set the example then thats what the dealers copy.

Agreed. Normally I wouldn't touch extended guarantees but in this case I was misled into believing it was an extension of the factory car warranty. At nearly $3k for two years I had no reason to believed otherwise.

Btw, the dealer still hasn't got back to me on the refund. Looks like consumer affairs may be the next step.

This type of product is basically an Insurance Policy and as such should come under legislation of the Financial Services Reforms Act. It is a pretty heavy bit of legislation requiring licencing of those selling it, duty of disclosure, and numerous other requirements of how consumers are dealt with.

I would be calling the Financial Ombudsman Service on Monday and explain the situation. 1300 780808. If they consider it an Insurance product then I'm sure a call from them to the dealer will get things moving for you.

Ally is all over this one. I would ring up the dealer on behalf of your mum and call BS on this. I would use what Ally has written here and demand that they return the car pronto. Sounds like they are trying to get your mums dosh.

2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Very glad to say that my wait is finally over. I picked her up on Friday afternoon and after 130km I am in love with this car. I can now understand why everyone is saying it would be hard to get a speeding ticket.

Important news from the dealer is that next week I have a high probability of having two tow hooks being fitted. He tells me that the tow hooks made originally for the MY11 happen to fit perfectly. I will know for sure on Monday and will post pics if it is true. Does anyone else have twin rated recovery hooks on a MY14 to confirm.

I can also let anyone else who is interested know that the Cooper AT3 265/60/R18 fits on the steel spare rim and in the rear compartment perfectly, even though the service department swore black and blue that there is no way it would fit. Their reasoning was that if it did fit then surely jeep would supply it that way.

Photo from a proud father. She might only be a Laredo but it still looks great in my driveway. Windows to be tinted this week to make it look the part.

Lucky you. Looks like the same as we are getting - Billet Laredo but mine is currently passing through the Panama Canal.

I love your car. Congratulations It disappoints me to read that it is ONLY A LAREDO. You have to look twice to know, and thats only with jeep enthusiasts. Normal public cannot pick the difference. A great car. At a different stage in your life cycle, you never know, you may well be in a positon to purchase an Overland or a Summit. A stunning looking car that will feel just the same to drive. Enjoy your touring,.
