Webber,

Sorry, I am not trying to make you feel bad, I just want a Summit in AU.

If you have a look at another thread I am on the second last post sheds some more light.

Josephr, many of us here in AU have been advised by local dealers there is NO Summit coming and those dealers have been advised by higher authorities and regional managers in Jeep/Chrysler AU head office there is NO Summit coming . Your emails with with Zac & Clyde etc here also eluded to the fact of NO Summit.. I posted on Jeeps Facebook page and they confirmed NO Summit... its seems a constant point of conflict that the production guys in the US say yes and all sources locally say NO.. why would they be motivated to bullshit us here in Australia???? what is there to gain other than lost sales. ( that is a real question by the way ) . the mystery continues !

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi guys, I've got a question regarding the class IV towing preparation for the 2014 Grand Cherokee, specifically the SRT.

My dealer over here in Sydney says that there are no factory fit towing options available and that they are installed locally by a third party once they arrive here. For the US, it looks like there is a "Trailer tow group IV (AHX)" option which includes the following:
TRAILER TOW GROUP IV (AHX) [MSRP $995 / INV. $ 886]
7 and 4 Pin Wiring Harness (XF2)
Class IV Receiver Hitch (XFH)
Delete Rear Tow Hook (XC8)
Full Size Spare Tire (TBB)
Heavy Duty Engine Cooling (NMC)
Steel Spare Wheel (WLB)

I only really want the tow bar for a bike rack so load rating isn't that important, I'm more concerned about 'doing it properly' if there is such a thing. I understand that more intelligent towing solutions have the ability to deactivate the rear parking sensors and may even integrate with the stability control systems.

Does anyone know if the trailer tow group IV option will be available for Australia and if it is the best option? Is there really any change to the engine cooling? Are the other items like full size spare actually included? Does a 295/45/20 fit in the spare wheel well anyway? Maybe someone who already has a WK2 would be able to shead some light on my options in this regard.

Also, would specifying a trailer tow option likely delay my build?

Thanks guys,

GB

The tow bar is indeed made by Best Bars in NZ, but it is an official Mopar part.

And don't let them delete the rear recovery hook. It still fits with the Mopar tow bar.

And ask for a FULL SIZE spare on a FULL SIZE MAG while you are at it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

The traier tow group option is NOT available for Australia. The towbar used in the USA is quite different to ours.
If you order a car with a towbar, the bar will be fitted here in Oz. They use a NZ bar (Best Bars) which is sold under the Mopar logo. It is a very good bar. You can also opt for a Hayman Reece bar if you wish. If the SRT has a rear recovery hook fitted, then it cant stay fitted if you use the Hayman Reece option, but can remain if you use the Best Bars one.
I don't think there are any modifications made to the engine or transmission cooling.
In regard to trailer plug wiring, it is a simple plug and play connection.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Does any one know if the 2014 Laredo will be available with the CRD option for the australian market? All the info so far would seem to indicate that the Laredo model will not have a CRD option???

Fantastic thanks for updating post 1 milous. Looks like the overland (only features list i actually went through) comes with the remote cd player, might have to get that deleted if i can! Will have to go see dealer tomorrow.

Edit: Also good to see there is the australia equipment group, looks like the advanced cruise etc is included and i also notice headlamp washers are included as we thought!

CD might still be an option ? agree don't want it if it takes up most of the centre console.

H/L washers are mandatory by law here when you have HID lights as is self levering

I noticed the rear DVD system is not mentioned as even an option on Overland !?
