Thanks for the tip. I don't think the FOS has jurisdiction over a car dealer, given the issue is not with IAG as I haven't signed the application. The issue is the dealer not refunding what I paid for the policy, notwithstanding I haven't actually signed on to the policy. Anyway, I'll write to the dealer principal and take it to consumer affairs if that doesn't resolve things.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi everyone, if wasn't for the rave reviews most are giving the JGC I would have given up waiting a long time ago. 2 months Jeep Australia stuffing round telling the dealer not to order as they would find one, then finally telling them to order one, which has been showing D1 status on the tracking site for quite a while.

My vehicle is eventually coming from an interstate dealer via the fleet buyer I have been dealing with.
My question to those of you in Melbourne in the eastern suburbs is - as I I have no alliance with a Melbourne dealer, is there a Jeep service Centre you could recommend to service my vehicle.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi Andy,

Re servicing, I'm in the same boat a s you. Purchased through a auto trader, from dealer in south east, but I'm located in the North. More than likely, I will go with my usual mechanic I have used on my previous vehicle.

Thanks,Dom

Chooke,

As someone already pointed out, the policy is in fact an insurance policy, and therefore comes under a strict financial product guideline.
Providing you did not sign a contact, the policy does not exist.
I suggest you write to the dealer principal, explain that once you received the T&C you determined the policy was not what was explained to you by the sales team. You are therefore putting on notice that you will not be proceeding with the takeup of the policy, and you require a full refund within 24hrs. Failure to comply will result in your escalation to the Financial Ombudsman.

Last weekend mum called me and advised me that the brand new laredo GC just didn't sound right when it started.. (a few clunks and sounds like it's running on three cylinders apparently). A quick call to the Jeep hotline and we were advised that a towtruck will be around to pick it up. (note: we are over 700kms from Perth, and 400kms away from the two closest jeep dealerships). Mum advised the call centre advisor that it would be cheapest for jeep to send it on a truck to perth (on a backload) than to 'hire a tilt-tray and pay for someone to do a 800km round trip'....

So 6am Monday morning a tilt-tray was out front waiting to take it to the dealer 400kms away. This is where all the problems began to start. Apparently they had done diagnostics on the whole vehicle, and the dealer couldn't find anything wrong with it, apart from a 'low engine oil pressure fault' and it apparently runs relatively smooth. The so called dealer has come to the conclusion that we must of ran the engine dry of fuel and have caused damage, something that the jeep warranty won't cover. Apparently 1/4 of a tank of diesel was not enough fuel for the engine to work efficiently (and yes, that is what the customer service guy said), and the fuel light wouldn't have even come on.

Now for the additional information:
-vehicle only has about 900kms on the clock....not 9000kms, 900kms only,
-vehicle has been refueled once near Perth on the trip home and has just under a quarter of a tank of diesel left.
-vehicle has not been thrashed, nor has it seen a piece of gravel.
-mum has a very good knowledge of vehicle maintenance and how things work. (she drives large agricultural machinery and a road-train for most of the year)

Mum has since talked to Jeep over the phone again and got the usual run-around and has been told that the car will not be released until she has paid for the testing work done, 400kms of freight and to get the car back to her and is absolutely heartbroken as she loves her new car more than what Webber seems to let on in this forum.

The dealer we purchased it from in Perth has been contacted and he is going to see what he can do from his end but it doesn't seem to sound too good. We are contemplating getting it put on the back of the truck and sent to the original dealer hoping that they might find something wrong at our cost (on the theory that they are selling more vehicles and we would have a better chance that they would have some vehicle experience at least), otherwise we may have to cut our ties......

My main question is "has anyone else had this issue with their new diesel?"
That is really SHIT service.
I would do the following:

Demand a full report that states that 1/4 tank is not enough fuel and their other BS reasons for not honoring the warranty.

Tell them that you will be there at x time and date to pickup the vehicle to have it independently tested and that you will not be paying a cent until their claims can be verified.

Tell them that you will be renting a vehicle and claiming the full amount if their report cannot be interdependently verified

Advise them that you will be advising several media outlets if their claim is false.

I personally would have gone ballistic by now, as this is so wrong on so many levels. I would have been speaking tot he CEO of CJD and demanding some sort of action. This story just makes me sick to think that Jeep are treating customers like this.

Does anyone know of a cheaper option? I think I'll just ring the dealership on Monday and order them because even with my usual Freight Forwarding company that I normally use for purchasing from outlets that do not ship outside the US (Hop Shop Go), I'm still looking at $300 plus shipping.

Unless of course someone knows of a cheaper way.
Hi SJandL,
Have you yet got slush mats for the 2014 JGC? I am still waiting on my Overland (in the country for 2 weeks, but not at the dealers yet!) and decided to get the slush mats before the car arrives (I live on a farm as it sounds you do). I went to the dealer's parts dept., but they told me that the 2013 mats don't fit, and the 2014 mats are not yet available. Something about the 2013 having one locating pin and the 2014 having two.
Do you (or anyone?) know if this is true, and if so, does it matter?
Russell

Well,

Seeing there are many that are not too happy at the moment, I thought a bit of humour would be good . Take a few moments and have a look at this YouTube clip, you have to turn up the sound and listen closely. Sorry there are a few rude words but I am sure you will agree, it is amazing what we hear and the mind thinks…….enjoy…..Regards, JosephR.

This is true, but the issue is only with the front passenger side which now has two locating pins whereas the 2013 only has one, drivers side and rear are both fine.

The front passenger side still fits fine it is just not held in place by the pin.

However, I choose to leave my original carpet mats under the slush mats because the carpet ones are about 10cm longer (into the footwell) so none of my slush mats are held by the locating pin anyway.

I also have the additional carpets as well as the slush mats. You don't need the pins for those slushies. If you do, I am sure you can purchase those locating pins, as they are basically the same on many cars. Buy the mats offshore. It will be cheaper than getting them locally.

Hey Russell

No, never ended up buying them. The shipping from the US was just too much, so I bought a new vacuum for the car instead. And I found Jeep shopping totes from the Jeep Luggage range in a colour that matched the car for $6 each so I grabbed some of them. (That's a girl thing )

Yep, pouring here too GMWK2 but we need the rain for our tanks so that's good.

Am currently uploading to Youtube a vid I took this avo for the 'What does a Diesel really sound like?' thread for the US guys. It's taking forever though - probably another half hour or so. Anyway, it should give them some idea (I hope).

Why you seem so surprised that this is happening to you amazes me.

Catch up with all the posts and you'll see youre not Robinson Crusoe m8.

Try 16th November 2012 in my case and yes, I have only just touched and patted my MY14 in the dealership on Saturday morning.

10 long months of waiting is nearly over.

Even then it wasnt a natural birth, we had to bring it on and even had a ceasar to extract it!!

Not to say i have got it yet, but I may only have to wait another week or so for it.

So Ansamoiz, take a deep breath and join the rest of us on the long wait.

And take a reality check about car dealersips.

Dont get me wrong, I really do sympathise with you but join the real world of Chrysler/Fiat/Jeep/Dodge/RAM/Alfa etc Oz.

Bluey
Dealer called me this morning. I was extremely surprised to hear that my car was ready to be picked up. I took the afternoon off from work and picked up my overland CRD this afternoon. To be honest, when I went there to pick up the car, three people that I dealt with were all very helpful. This includes the Sales Manager who did not want to talk to me the other day. He offered me a piece of cake and a cup of coffee. They also gave me a full tank of diesel.

They did ask me to provide positive feedback when Jeep Australia calls me in a few days.

I love the car. Haven't explored anything due to rainy day in Sydney today.
