Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi Bluey,
Good to hear things are working out.
As for the CD Player - no major loss. If you want, I'll be happy to swap centre consols with you ; otherwise may use mine as a toaster - definitely get more use.

Looks to me like the web page is a straight copy and paste off the USA Rocky Road web site - others have been down this route before. But maybe they have now revised the kit to suit the Aus Spec GC??

I'm always happy to be proved wrong.

I think it is a really great solution for people who just want a winch - wouldn't mind this myself.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

This is the area that differs between US and export models and causes the issue with the recovery hooks, it appears that the winch mount replaces the area in question and would eliminate the export issue.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Looks like GMWK2 was right. Call from the service department telling me only the left hand side front tow hook was installed. To my reaponse that I have no use for only one hook and that I will not be paying for it. Hmmm so much for positive praise. I wasn't even the one who brought up the tow hook situation when picking up my car last Friday. Will keep you informed.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Goodness me! Sister/BIL in NZ looking at purchasing the same as ours (Overland).

Guess the price? Holy cow - $98,990 plus onroads putting it over the $100k mark.

Converting the NZ$ to the AUD that brings it down to $88k Australian - still well over us.

Don't the cargo ships dock first in Auckland and cross the ditch? So no extra route to take so to speak.

Someone's making a buck (Would that be Clive?) That is sarcastic and rhetoric by the way.

Edited to add link as an example. http://www.sella.co.nz/motoring/cars/jeep/qqd068/

I've looked at the option from ECB, but I am not sure if I want to change the front appearance of the vehicle. Not sure when ARB will come up with their design and of course the big question about tow hooks, it would be great for a solution sooner rather than later. One question I would like to pose to all at JG, has anyone looked into fitting a bash plate to the front of the vehicle. I already have the Adventure Pack fitted, but I want protection right at the front of the vehicle. I'm yet to see anything local or on Mopar, so I'm wondering if anyone has looked into this. Solutions or your thoughts on this one would be appreciated.
Butts, when towing, what does your temp gauge do? We have been told it is normal to rise to 3/4, especially when going up hill. Have you found that?

Thanks

We have fitted multiple hooks already, we did the first ones for jeep Australia and have been tested in the drive days at bright
Looks like I have been let down webber, unless you have a way to work your magic. No response to an email to my disappointment at only fitting the one recovery tow hook. Also wont get the car back until tomorrow now as they are working on getting a second camera from the caravan to feed into the media screen so guess I will deal with it tomorrow.

I tow a 1.8t boat up and down the Newcastle freeway, at the speed limit of course. The temp gauge does not budge.

I saw that also, lucky bugger. You also ordered yours about a month after me and still got down the line first. The wait is killin' me, I check the build page multiple times everyday.

Hi Buster, images below is what I am towing. We are about 1600 kg at the moment and the temp sits comfortably in the middle. Our trip last weekend was between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast at 100 km/h and I did note a slight increase when we were behind a truck with limited air flow, but normal driving, there is no real difference with or without the Camper. We are heading out to Canarvon Gorge in October for our first long trip, so. Will keep an eye on it for you.

So what's going on webber - if Shannon has really fitted twin hooks as he says, why has he been unable to fit them to Createits car? As usual, with no photo - it never happened!
