When did you have any I asked...) he said Jeep were holding off the launch of the MY14 until they had sold all the MY13 (which fits with other accounts herein) but the MY13 has been selling quicker that they thought so they are now looking to release the MY14 in June/July. Bear in mind this guy has a different story every time you talk to him, but it may give some people (webber/mark etc..) some hope.
Thanks JKAU. Interesting! You will have to let us know how you find your Q7 when you take possession.

That's a hell of a lot faster than waiting for the Jeep. Did the guy at CityJeep express any thoughts when you informed him you were sick and tired of the lack of knowledge given out about whether we would get a Summit or not? Did he express any genuine frustration or as I found them, they really could not give a care. When I rang them inquiring about the MY14 the smart remark I got was, "why don't you just wait for the MY15". That told me to never do business with them.

Uh-huh. 6 posts in a row, followed by another 4 in a row. Someone needs to learn to use the "Edit" and "Multi-quote" buttons.

Anyway, looking down that list raises 3 minor questions;-
1. Overland has "Bright Grille" Does that mean the honeycomb insert is not black?
2. Overland has "Front door tinted Glass". Our JGC todate have had clear front door glass with tinting an additional paid option at the dealership. Does this mean it is already tinted and is it very light meaning one still has to pay to have it "darkened".
3. Last year when reading reviews on the child seat restraint hooks the reviewer raised the fault on how difficult it was to attach the child seat restraints due to position and size of the anchor points etc. Apparently not user friendly - very difficult to get at. Considering this point not for our Children but Grandchildren. That's why we purchased our daughters little Holden Astra to use whilst waiting for our JGC so she could graduate our grandchildren into a larger, safer car. They then purchased a Ford Territory, if you know what they are.
Webber, Robo and others,

Here is some more information about the Summit and other model. Please keep in mind that it US based so may not directly translate to the same model features in Australia, but it will give you a good idea of what may be available.

Also have some information on the 2014 SRT, see attached.

Hope this helps everyone.....

Regards.............JosephR

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Spoke to one of the local dealers yesterday and his comments re the 2014 were:

- no price or feature details from head office yet, he noted that in the past its occasionally been the case that they have a new model on the lot and still no price so he isn't surprised they don't have details as yet and may not for a while
- they are taking orders for the 2014 and are assuming a $1k price rise over the 2013 RRP
- they don't expect any stock until may/june at the earliest (his view, not official)
- saying they expect to charge full RRP for some time (no discounting)
- very keen to move 2013 stock and heavy discounts (to be expected)
- re the summit, his opinion was it would not be released here, he felt the overland may be spec'd up in AU to fill the gap a little

Yea agree.

We are first time Jeep buyers and first time US manufacture as well having been loyal to the German brands for a long time and still so with our primary car, currently an Audi A3 the boss drives. This will be a second car purchase for us and we have been back and forth between a 2103 or 2014 for a few weeks now.

We have made the call to run with a 2013 for as much as I like the look of the 2014 (new styling, new model, 8 speed and instruments), the discounts available on the 13s are too good to ignore (at least an $8k difference without any haggling yet) so expecting to sign up next week after some haggle.

Hopefully the removal of 1 more 13 from the stocks will increase the pressure on Jeep to get your lovely new 14s here a little faster

Gusrox, what model are you getting and where are you seeing $8K discounts ? are you talking new or demo/used ? (Noticed Limited in your signature- $8K on this model is a fair % )

This is a concern and indicates Jeep are another "clearance Sale" type of retailer. They all do it to some extent but $8K off retail is mad and only indicates that our MY14 models are going to depreciate at a massive rate..
This has been my main concern all along, paying FULL retail for the privilege of a new model only to have the resale value smashed in 6 months time - i.e. its MY14 but is built in 2013 so come Jan 2014 are these Jeeps going to be discounted out the out the door? i am seeing MY12s 2nd hand on carsales and people cant seem to move them either.. not trying to put a dampener on things but resale is a very important component of a vehicle purchase - unless your plan to keep it 10years and drive it into the ground, but I turn over cars at 3 years max

2013 Limited CRD, jump on carsales.com.au and check the new car prices. Im obviously referring to the dealers expected RRP for the new MY14 model quoted to me Vs the best price I have seen for a 13 which is around 59k so about 6 off the RRP for the 13 model and about 7-8 off the RRP for the 14 if the estimate I got for a 14 turns out to be accurate. Sorry if I confused it a bit there there as my comparison was to explain why I was looking at a 13 V a 14.

I haven't tracked GC prices over time to see if the prices have changed recently or if this has been a consistent level (low 60's and high 50's for the CRD Limited).

New cars, used for that matter, always depreciate the moment you drive it out of the showroom but I take your point about a potential drop in the 14s selling price (as opposed to RRP) down the track impacting resale of existing 14s and 12/13s as well. While the dealer said they were taking orders at full RRP for the 14, I don't know how firm that will be in reality. I spoke to another dealer about a 13 and he was quoting 67k ('but I'll do a deal') even though he knew I had seen them on carsales for a lot less. I'd call that wishful thinking bu I'm also certain some people don't do their research and end up paying at or close to RRP so the tactic probably works with many customers (quote high and discount from there).

Hope that clarify's where I was coming from

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I do not think $8k discount is excessive. As a matter of fact, I would be looking more at $10k. for a MY13 at this stage.
I don't agree that the discounting of a MY13 will effect the MY14 resales. As a matter of fact, I suspect that once the MY14 is released in Oz, the values of the MY13's will drop considerably. It will be hard to compete against the newer version and 8 speed transmissions.
Also, once the MY14 does get established, you will see small discounts when dealers start to fight over sales.
Anyone who pays full price for a Jeep is either not a negotiator, or is wanting to be amongst the first batch of buyers.
For myself, I paid less than $69k for a new Overland CRD, MY12 over 12mths ago, driveaway.
