If you have a message saying "Drive safely at highway speed to remedy" then this is what is required to clean your DPF. All you need to do is go for a drive on a local freeway/highway for 20-30mins and drive normally at the speed limit (100kph would be good). This "burns off" the particulates in the filter. All diesel cars with a DPF require this from time to time. The filter "fills up" when all you do is city stop start driving.
I agree with all above. I am familiar with the DPF system as fitted to Isuzu diesels and the same principals should apply the JGC's. In most cases the 'burn' will occur at normal speed with the engine at full operating temperature and without the driver being aware. The message will only appear if the vehicle has been subjected to a lot of idling, consistently not reaching normal engine temperature or only doing short runs. Ignoring the message may cause the vehicle to go into limp mode. The DPF system has been introduced on diesel cars and trucks to meet the latest emission standards and eliminates the black exhaust soot. When the 'burn' happens elevated exhaust temperatures occur. A burning smell may be noticed particularly on newer vehicles.

I am also somewhat astonished about that Penrith comment. Can the ANSAMOIZ confirm exactly what the comment from Penrith was?

Salmo,

None of the ships show a drop off for Adelaide, my guess is that it would be shipped by road from Melbourne.

When I called them the first question they asked if I bought the car from them. I said no. The person on the phone said "You will have to take the car to the dealer you bought it from. Or, you can call Jeep Assist".

I have spoken to my dealer and they have escalated it (Penrith) to the Area Manager.

I tried the method of driving it on the freeway. Since the car stays in the fourth gear, it does not go over 75-80 KM speed. No matter how much you push it. It stays in the fourth gear even at idle speed. Does not shift to sport mode either. Engine symbol stays on (amber) and ETC (Electronic Throttle Control) symbol keeps flashing (red).

The car has been towed to the nearest dealer (Castle Hill) this morning. I went with the tow truck. The dealer did not know anything about my car being brought there. Jeep Assist organised the tow truck but forgot to book the car with the dealer. The dealer told me that they may not be able to look at the car until Monday afternoon. They gave me lift to the nearest train station, I took the train and have just arrived home.

Very disappointed that I spoke to Jeep Assist at 02:30 PM yesterday and the car may not be looked at until Monday afternoon.

Tow truck driver told me that he is towing a number of almost brand new Jeeps with a variety of issues.

I am betting your car might be on the ANIRA, departing 12th Oct and offboarded in Melb. Then carfreighted to Adelaide.

AM Radio Reception
Hi, just wondering if anyone else is having issues with AM radio reception in the metro area? I usually listen to AM in the city and quite often the sound goes crackly (sounds almost like a torn speaker cone). I presume it is a reception issue as it only does it on AM and typically when I am near Railway crossings, high voltage power lines etc. Is this something I should keep pushing with the dealer - so far they say they have not been able to replicate the issue and crossed the item off the list! - or is it another Jeep issue to live with?
Thanks

My Adelaide arrival date is 11 Nov, so would think either way it would need to sail in the next few days allowing for a 5 week drift.

I have done this on my Limited and I have tested it with a multimeter and I now have 12 volt power with the ignition off.

PS: I would be very surprised if a Laredo and a Limited had different fuse blocks.
Gforce,

My apologies, you are correct; I was trying to put the fuse into the adjacent fuse slot, and did not notice the elongated slot with 3 connections.

Mine is the same, and the FM reception fades away much earlier than my previous vehicle as the distance from the transmitter increases. Interested to get the thoughts or comments from others to see if this is 'normal' for the JGC.

Question Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I have been trawling this site for some time now because I am considering the Jeep Overland or Summit (if it gets here) and to be honest all the problems you guys are having is giving me doubts, Penrith is my local dealer which is a bother, Jeep Australia seem to not be customer orientated so I wonder should I just give up on Jeep altogether. I do realise of course that there must be (hopefully) many totally satisfied Jeep owners out there tho.
