I have been trawling this site for some time now because I am considering the Jeep Overland or Summit (if it gets here) and to be honest all the problems you guys are having is giving me doubts, Penrith is my local dealer which is a bother, Jeep Australia seem to not be customer orientated so I wonder should I just give up on Jeep altogether. I do realise of course that there must be (hopefully) many totally satisfied Jeep owners out there tho.
I've had my Jeep now for nearly two years and I've had my share of issues, a breakdown at 3000km, issues with recovery hooks, wrong tyres, missing warranty books etc. I've been through Penrith and Castle Hill dealers and now use Narellan. Yep, its been a roller coaster.

But the Jeep is a great car - when it is good it is fantastic, its great on fuel, smooth and comfortable on a trip, tows like you would not believe and fabulous off road. And looks like a full size Hot Wheels.

If you are an A to B Camry kind of guy, maybe a Jeep isn't for you. But if you believe life is too short to drive a boring car, well...

Oh, and my other car is an Alfa so I'm not a good example of sensible decision making.

I now seem (touch wood) to have all the bugs ironed out and I'm at peace.

Probably the shark fin aerial not the greatest thing for reception. The pitfalls of having a cool looking aerial.

My thoughts exactly.... just pick your dealer carefully.... but I'm sure you will get alot of positive comments in relation to a dealer around your area.

I believe there is a need of a separate thread on dealers' customer service and have rating on them. This will help the people who are planning to buy new jeeps. Taking a print out of that thread to the dealers may change their behaviour.

Not sure if such a thread already exists.

I presume it is a reception issue as it only does it on AM and typically when I am near Railway crossings, high voltage power lines etc. Is this something I should keep pushing with the dealer - so far they say they have not been able to replicate the issue and crossed the item off the list! - or is it another Jeep issue to live with?
Thanks
I'm not sure about range, but in terms of rejecting interference, I have found mine (2014 Overland) to be better than any of the 3 other cars I drive about town. "Town" is a country town with degraded powerlines/transformers etc, which make AM unusable at some locations - but the Jeep, while the noise is audible, is relatively great.

Another happy Jeep owner (for the last 5 odd years) and like GMWK2 are happy with Narellan.

Your warranty is with Jeep, and as Jeep's representative the dealer network os responsible for warranty work, regardless of where you purchased.

Having said that, the attitude displayed at Penrith should ring an alarm for any prospective customer

I suggest you look at sites covering other vehicles. You might find much the same thing. Or you could pay $25,000 more for a Disco 4 which, if you are lucky, may have fewer problems but you will be $25,000 more pissed off if it does have problems.

If you have a message saying "Drive safely at highway speed to remedy" then this is what is required to clean your DPF. All you need to do is go for a drive on a local freeway/highway for 20-30mins and drive normally at the speed limit (100kph would be good). This "burns off" the particulates in the filter. All diesel cars with a DPF require this from time to time. The filter "fills up" when all you do is city stop start driving.

There is NO reason why Penrith Jeep cant service your car. Makes NO difference where you bought it! But if that's their attitude, best to avoid them anyway.
Agreed! All the dealer will do is give the car to the apprentice and tell him to take it for a hot burn up the freeway, otherwise known as an Italian tune. It will come back as good as new. They will then clear any codes the CAN may have thrown and give it back to you minus your wallet and half a tank of fuel.

Dealer called me this afternoon and notified me that they could not resolve the issue. They will continue the diagnosis on Monday. So, I have no car for the weekend.
