Don't you mean "fitted"? I can't imagine that they are different to the other three trim levels!

And personally, I would have paid a fair bit extra to improve the ridiculously bass heavy audio system in the Overland.

Cheers,
Steve

They're an after-market purchase Steve for the Summit - they are not offered as a factory option. I remember reading one of the US threads somewhere on here, that some of the guys were having trouble sourcing them from their dealerships over there. Not sure how it panned out in the end. Have to go searching...

If you are playing via phone or ipodish thing, then use their programs to alter the sound.

Don't really follow the US. The skid plates are readily available here... just bought two sets with Noons.

Have a go searching... Australia.

Cheers,
Steve

I don't buy "i" Remember I'm using a hard drive via USB to the system. Plus not all i devices run apps to distort the sound further.

The system should not require an external fix. Perhaps I play CDs or enjoy the radio.

Ciao,
Steve

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Andy - I've been having a look at other countries and the price of the variants (yes - I'm bored this afternoon).

The UK is interesting and might give you some idea as to the additional price of the Summit vs the Aust Overland.

Summit pricing (everything included that we know) 49,495 BP's.

Overland pricing (without optional Safety pack) - 45,695 BP's.

Overland pricing with Safety pack (which gives them ACC, BSM, FCW) just like we have on our Overlands - an extra 2400,00 BP's - total then 48,095.

Which gives only a difference of about 1500.00 BPs between the Overland as we know it and the Summit.

So maybe just an additional say... $3k more over here between the two (?).

That's sounds ok doesn't it.

ETA: Those prices include VAT.

SJandL,

Many thanks for the info you have come up with, much appreciated, waiting to hear back from the dealer my fleet broker is using, as soon as I know anything, I will post, although we seem to be getting more info from Milous than JA ! Dealer has ben good and said that if I want the Summit, they will take my ordered Overland as stock for them

Down side with Summit is that I can't get my light colour interior that is in my Overland on the way over here. Upside is that I get what I wanted with the Summit, including improved stereo, like the wheels more and a few other refinements, just need to balance up $ difference to see if I can justify.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Yes, limited options with the colour choice on the Summit. I've noticed a few US folk complaining about the same thing.

You do get the 'soft cow' interior as far as the headliner goes though ie: Suede. I can only imagine how a light colour of that would go as far as sticky fingers and other marks etc. Suede is always tricky to keep clean.

Anyway, keep us updated (especially about the price difference). It will be interesting to see what CA/JA come up with with regards to that.

Actually very very few cars get the audio system set up right.
And audio shop owner in Sydney either owned or tried for a while a Lexus RX350. This car comes with a Mark Levinson system. Mark Levinson's engineers were given full access to build the system and Lexus made several changes to accommodate their requirements.
Anyway, it's generally considered a pretty decent sounding system as far cars go. This audio shop owner spent ages tuning it and could not for the life of him get it to sound decent to his experienced ears.

This leads to another point about audio, it's highly personally. When I was shopping for an audio system I read many reviews praising Monitor Audio and BOWERS & WILKINS. Personally I couldn't stand them, too flat for my tastes, there were only two speakers that my ears loved and all others were off in some manner.

I have seen many others complain about the lack of audio adjustments available in the U-Connect system. Maybe you could run all tracks through a program to reduce their low frequency before loading to HDD.

$3K sounds reasonable but keep in mind, Australian car buyers are not treated fairly by the dealers or Car companies. This is due to very weak consumer protection laws and regulations. I believe the difference in price will be $5K or more.

Will do, might be a while though as I'm having difficulty just getting the dealer to acknowledge the issue.

I know AM is probably old hat, but there are a few of us that still listen to it a bit until Jeep (and other manufacturers) get with the 21st century and fit DAB+ radios, or at least make it available as an option. I mainly listen to sport and talk back (not the shock jock variety) in the car, HiFi is for home.

Hi Guys,
Milous has kindly supplied me with the AU Summit build spec, ill do a comparison over the next few days and let you know what the exact differences are as compared to our MY14Mk1 Overland. I do have to emphisise the mk1, as ours was built prior to the 30th July upgrades on the MY14mk2 (auto parking mode and stop start etc.)

Watch this space if you are interested in a Summit.
