Hi all, I bought a 2014 GC Laredo 4x4 a couple or months ago. I've recently noticed a map symbol pops up on the top right of the screen for a few seconds. Doesn't happen always but regularly enough. I can select 'map' but it just searches for something indefinitely. Has anyone else seen this?!?

As I understood it, the Laredos in OZ couldn't be upgraded to have Satnav. Now I'm questioning why it couldn't. Clearly mine has some glitch in the system but it shows that it should be possible.

Might be similar to the way mine shows the SRT logo when I do a factory reset ... pretty sure that upgrade isn't gonna go well

Maybe nav on the Laredos would be easier after all

Remember "not possible" probably involves a healthy drop of "not interested" by the dealers!

Best of luck probing that one out,
Steve

On the Limited when you press this 'map button' it will bring up a small mini GPS map which shows your location. Or if selected a place you want to navigate to, this map is very handy when, say you are looking at the Radio screen for stations but still need to follow a route.
Strange that it is coming up on your screen in the Laredo, but goes to show that there is some sort of interlink between the different systems.
I think that Chrysler Jeep could do themselves and us a big favour by having all the U-Connect systems the same, and this includes the reversing camera.
Does make you wonder what goes through their heads sometimes??

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I'm looking for advice on a phone which integrates well with Uconnect. I have looked at the compatibility charts on the US Jeep website, but even if I can find a phone that is sold here, there's no guarantee that it has the same features - especially since some seem to be carrier related. I think the main features are phonebook download, Bluetooth streaming, text to voice and voice to text (as well as phone calls!).
I am pretty much stuck with Telstra, and probably want an Android phone, but if iPhones work better, that's OK too.
Any thoughts on what works well?
Thanks,
Russell

I have a samsung s3 and get most of the above to work.. with the exception of voice to text... but that maybe an australian thing and not phone issue. Have a number of dropouts listening to music via bluetooth... but dealer says that is a phone thing as they don't experience it with their I phones... but some members will dispute that here as their samsungs work fine

HTC One seems to be the only one that offers everything (according to threads about this with US users).
Which is fine as itís a fantastic phone.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Thanks Russell for asking the phone question - was considering asking the same thing because we are in market for a new one also. Thank you Snuke for that advice re: the HTC One phone.

Oh we have a Motorolla Defy at the moment, and whilst it works fine with the uConnect, the phone itself is crappy. Touchscreen issues all the time on it, turns itself off etc.

Wouldn't recommend one of those Russell.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi All, of those who take your vehicles off road, does anyone disable the ABS, & in particular the Airbag system? Does the Jeep have the ability to manage the different driving conditions and the safety systems deployment. Just a question I was asked.

Thanks,
Dom

Why would you need to do either of these actions? What are trying to achieve? Both are not legal options for registered vehicles in Oz. Without ABS, traction control won't function. In a big shunt without airbags you don't function!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi Guys, I took possession of my noice new MY14 GC Limited last week but haven't had Internet access for 8 days, thanks to Telstra. Cut off for 8 days whilst they installed the NBN - what a joke. Anyway, I noticed that the software version in the uConnect is 13.15.4. and the Navi Server is 9.10.2.275656. I can vaguely recall reading somewhere that there was a later version of the software than what I have got. I spoke to the dealer today and he told me it was the latest version. Would someone be kind enough to check their systems and let me know what version they have.

The satnav is woeful, went for a drive on Sunday and it could not even identify a road that has been there for a 100 years. A message announced something like I was in an uncharted map area and there was no coverage.

By the way, Love the car.

Doug
