I have never thought of disabling the air-bags off-road even if it was possible. If the car hits something hard enough to trigger the air-bags, I would rather they went off than not regardless if off-road or not.
The Jeep does a good job of adapting to varying terrain but it also has settings for specific terrain. This terrain traction control is really just an adaptation of ABS. If the ABS was turned off, all this sophistication would be lost. You might just as well have bought a Holden Colorado. The only reason for turning the ABS off is to do burn-outs in the car park but even that might not be possible because the ABS never goes off completely.

I think the main features are phonebook download, Bluetooth streaming, text to voice and voice to text (as well as phone calls!).
I am pretty much stuck with Telstra, and probably want an Android phone, but if iPhones work better, that's OK too.
Any thoughts on what works well?
Thanks,
Russell
Hi Russell, I have an iPhone 4s and it works perfectly with the Uconnect, the Bluetooth streaming is fault free, when listening to music and I leave the car and return the Uconnect picks up the connection and starts playing where it left off hours before without having to touch anything also the Album covers will show up on the Uconnect screen and you can select them as you would by using the phone.
As to the voice text thing I am not sure as I haven't tried it. All other features like the phone book and receiving and making a call work perfectly. Hope this helps in your decision making.
Cheers, Greg.

Strange that it is coming up on your screen in the Laredo, but goes to show that there is some sort of interlink between the different systems. I think that Chrysler Jeep could do themselves and us a big favour by having all the U-Connect systems the same, and this includes the reversing camera. Does make you wonder what goes through their heads sometimes??
Thanks Barboots and Gforce.

There's a definite link between systems and I think it's more than likely a case of can't be bothered. It's a pity because I would definitely pay to have Nav integrated into the screen.

P.s. I'm still waiting for the reverse cam to be installed. Waited 2 months already!!

I was told you could upgrade the Laredo to have sat nav. PM if you want details.

Anyway there's Google maps on the phone, connect the bluetooth streaming and you've got voice guided sat nav.

Voice to text works on an S3. The whole voice to text system is pretty flawed, it only works on pre defined responses. The responses are listed in the uconnect, I remember I managed to bring them up once. Never had any drop outs on an S3, that said, my phone is in for repairs, so maybe when it works properly ill loose these features.

Just a heads up. Expect a recall notice for your MY14 soon. I guess we're part of the 32,000 odd outside of the NAFTA area.
