Thought I would post this here as well. But looking at the previous threads regarding how much is paid for membership, to information given out, I may just be wasting my time. Information is worth paying a premium for this site now professes.

I've been talking to a parts supplier in the states. Mopar/Dealer in brisbane says they have ordered (new)part number 82212095 for my front recovery hooks, and there is a back order. States supplier says they have the part number in stock, but have checked with Mopar(US) and they say it won't fit British Models?? I supplied them my VIN#...
Does anyone know if this part number is our JGC MY14 front recovery hooks?
Should I get them, to try? Would Mopar US be wrong ?
I can run the risk, if it pays off ( couple hundred bucks) then we all can order them.

Perhaps I should upgrade my membership, the elite all may have recovery hooks already, but that information is above my subscription/security level.
Just re-read this post, sounds a bit bitchy. I thought this was a forum for sharing. If this offends, sorry in advance.

"Moreover, vehicle manufacturers claim that in a high speed crash from a vehicle crashworthiness occupant protection perspective, there is some evidence that a bullbar may affect the airbag’s timing, making the airbag inflate too soon or too late to protect someone. In most cases this claim is exaggerated if the fixtures attaching the bullbar to the vehicle do not alter the vehicle’s crumple zone in any significant manner. In the case of low speed minor frontal crashes, it is possible that a badly designed and fitted bullbar can cause airbags to inflate during impacts that would not normally have activated the airbags because of a softer impact into a plastic bumper bar. It is claimed that in extreme cases, the airbags could cause injury to the passengers by the inflating airbag itself. This again is a somewhat spurious claim. It needs to be pointed out that injury resulting from an airbag firing could occur in any impact situation and not necessarily one involving a vehicle with a bullbar. Thus the low impact premature firing of an airbag is more related to considerable cost of repair than in regards to injury."
Thanks for the reply.
I was aware that the bullbars need to comply, but wondered if it the same for rock rails. Given that they need to be of sturdy construction for the job they need to do, I was thinking about damage from a side impact (being T-boned). I was having this talk with a friend (land cruiser driver) who is pretty sure they would need to be engineered and approved to meet safety standards for air bag deployment in the result of an accident.
All this conversation came about because I thought I thought I might like to build my own.

Hi TJ,

The 2014 Grand Cherokee AU accessories brochure (http://www.jeep.com.au/for-owners/doc/22/raw) states part number 82212095. You would imagine that this would be the correct part number given it's from the Jeep AU website but don't be surprised if it's not. This part number appears to be the US part number, so best to double check before you purchase.

I would think that a few people would take offence to your comments about "the elite" I am assuming your are making reference to those in this forum that pay a higher membership fee. Lets put its this way the higher cost to get to a higher status of membership is two parts of stuff all and the information flowing back from our colleagues in the states is brilliant and fills in many gaps that JA cannot or will not fill, including software upgrades. It is a user pays world and each of us that pay the pittance of the higher membership and support the people that drive this great forum reap the benefits, those who are tight arses don't.

I agree it's a user pays world, but lol( there's always a but) I thought this was a forum of shared experience and information to the benifit of fellow JGC owners. Being a "tight ass" just confirms devotion to the "elitness".
Please don't take any of what I say to heart and feel the need to defend. It is simply an observation that seems true.

I think you have missed the point, it is all about " supporting the people who drive this forum" class doesn't come into it.
If it were otherwise no one would be allowed in without paying, this is why you can join for zero $ and still get lots of information and be able to join in with the various conversations that take place.

You have posted this question in two threads, a general no no for every forum.
You received an accurate answer to help you, all at no cost.

Your post does come across as immensely bitchy and frankly quite insulting to the amount of hard work and immense time that is put into running this site and providing and testing the information like the new software.
If you consider paying USD $4.98 Elite, then I am pretty shocked, as you still mange to purchase a device that allows you access to this site in the first place, and surely that is even more elite in world wide perspective.
Or buying a Jeep Grand Cherokee, surely that is Elite.
If you don't value the site owners and mods time to the value of $5, then don't pay.
As you can see I valued their help and information and services provided so much that I considered the $125 lifetime membership more than worthy.
I run my own site with forums and we have no where near the user base or expense in running my site, but you know what, every member is more than happy to contribute way above what is required to run the site.

You have a huge wealth of information to draw from at no charge, yet still requires other peoples time to moderate.

Getting of my high horse now, just quite perturbed that you don't value the operators of this site time and effort.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Was almost home last night when I started to hear an intermittent whistle noise.
Seemed to happen when cruising around 80km/h.
Started to get a little worried it might be the turbo.

Anyone else experience this?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Likewise Snuke well said, just reinforcing my two main points:-

1) not subscribing to higher membership = tight arse.

2) recognition of the great job the guys in the states do that are behind this forum.

Cruising at 80kph may be under the turbo cut in speed, so may not be that.
Have you any modifications, such as racks, that may be giving wind noise? Do you have the sunroof? If so, open it a few cms and see if that changes. Could very well be wind noise.
