Yes! Mine is a whistle in the driver's right ear, and happens over about 80 km/hr ONLY when on the overrun. Touch the throttle even lightly, and it stops. Lift off, and it starts again. Not very loud at all, and not 100% reproducible. I mentioned it to my salesman (no techs there at the time). He hadn't heard of it before, but suggested that they would tighten the intake and turbo pipes. To me, it could be the turbo, but not mechanical I think. It happens when you would expect a wastegate to open, but sounds nothing like that of course.

I have the whistle noise as well! I've had since the day I pocked the vehicle up. It only happens when the vehicle is not being accelerated (or at least that is the only time I can hear it). As soon as you touch the accelerator it stops. Almost sounds like a wind noise but I'm sure it's not. I was wondering if it could be wheel bearings? I thought it might even be breaking noise .... does the vehicle apply breaking as part of the traction control and/or ESC?? I tried turning off traction control but it made no difference. I was/am going to mention it at my first service (still 7K away) .... I can just image the response ... whistle, what whistle?

Well, that makes at least 3 of us, so maybe the techs will have heard of it before. Doesn't sound like wheel bearings to me. Brakes are possible I guess - they come on in the wet to keep them dry, but it doesn't need to be wet for mine to happen. Otherwise, if the cruise is off, I don't think there should be any braking, and anyway, its a bit too "even" for a brake noise. Does anyone here with a NON-diesel, have the whistle? That might narrow things down a bit.
Thanks,
Russell

I've been talking to a parts supplier in the states. Mopar/Dealer in brisbane says they have ordered (new)part number 82212095 for my front recovery hooks, and there is a back order. States supplier says they have the part number in stock, but have checked with Mopar(US) and they say it won't fit British Models?? I supplied them my VIN#...
Does anyone know if this part number is our JGC MY14 front recovery hooks?
Should I get them, to try? Would Mopar US be wrong ?
I can run the risk, if it pays off ( couple hundred bucks) then we all can order them.
The hooks won't fit. But if your dealer is willing to order them for you and not charge you if they don't fit give it go.

No charge for that info

StormRL, Noons - have a listen to the video in this post. The sound is the same as mine, but is in short bursts, whereas mine is continuous. They (US members) seem to be convinced it is the power steering motor, but that seems unlikely based on my symptoms. You need to listen into the video a bit - there are some early sounds which are not it.

EDIT: It is at post #5 - the llink goes to the thread, but maybe not the post.

If you click on the actual post number, it will give you an anchor URL to that post.
This link should take you post #5.

Yes I have experienced this too at around the same speed, doesn't last long though. Just put it down to one of those strange Jeep quirks, I will ask my dealer about this when my GC's 10k service is due. (Now 4200km's and all's well).

According to justforjeep all MY14 GC has the harness and the only thing is is required is the "factory hitch connector" Factory Hitch Connector however this may only applies to the US vehicle.
Yes I'm still waiting for this information to come out... I am hoping that the MY14 harness disables the rear sensors when a trailer is connected. I don't really have the energy for devising a nice solution myself, and also would prefer the rear loom was not spliced if a "plug and play" option is available. That said, I need to tow soon so will probably have to cave in and accept what is on offer.

I definitely would not buy a US harness though mate. Their illumination setup is quite different.

Cheers,
Steve

Hey Salmo, does your friend's model have issues with the uConnect / Aircon? If not can you please ask what version he's running. Thanks heaps!

On extremely loose gravel, I can have proven that a can driver can beat ABS braking distance. Being able to steer during emergency braking is advantageous, but only if there is somewhere to steer to!

Disabling airbags is most likely unnecessary in any situation. Aussie thresholds are quite high and inadvertent deployment doesn't get much airtime... probably because it doesn't happen.

It was a valid question as it does the rounds of many 4WD forums.

Cheers,
Steve
