That said, I need to tow soon so will probably have to cave in and accept what is on offer.

I definitely would not buy a US harness though mate. Their illumination setup is quite different.

My MY2014 car is booked in for a towbar on Friday. I asked specifically if they had the 2014 wiring loom and they insist that they do. They have previously installed 2013 towbars and looms for people who were in a hurry, but prefer not to because of the loom, and the fact that the towbar had to be bent a bit to fit. As for whether the car already has the wiring loom, the dealer also insists that he has to install one. I guess we will see.
On the Towing thread at post 330, there is discussion about the 2014 loom containing an ECU. if that is true, perhaps it does manage the lights and parking sensors intelligently.
Thanks,
Russell

Thanks for that Russell. I'm just catching up on reading the forum as I've had the cr@p knocked out of me again. I'm still to get through the towing thread, so your pointer is appreciated.

Cheers,
Steve

With regards to the noise, please check if this happens once the transmission changes into the final gear, and revs are low. It may have something to do with the converter locking up. I have a FG falcon with the ZF 6 speed and if I travel at 70km on a flat surface and it changes into final gear, I get this 'droning' noise, like a faint bass sound. tap the throttle is goes away.
Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Dom

Thanks Dom - I will check that out. Certainly the car would be in 8th gear under all circumstances I've heard it.

I have had mine sent up from Perth last week and it is going into the service agent here on the 26th to be installed along with the mud flaps and having the 7 pin plug changed to the required 12 pin plug that I asked for originally. So hopefully it works better than some people have had with theirs.

Got the same whistle guys.
Comes when coasting off accelerator, disappears when throttle is applied.
Mine seems to come from the passenger side somewhere.
Almost sounds like a faint electronic whistle

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi All, i know long time no write, but rest assured I have been reading diligently !
I have finally sorted my stuff out with the house, sold the old Kluger and as of a week ago ordered a limited CRD with Pano and tow bar. I wanted something in stock and according to the dealer they had one in stock ( coming off a recently landed ship ) that was a match, albeit it has the lux 2 upgrade.
So the big question is does anyone have a central list of things I should give the dealer to upgrade, check or fix before I take delivery on the 14 th October ?

Things that spring to mind from previous posts are exhaust shield rubbing, unconnect upgrade to 13.9, rubbing on full steering lock, check that the aircon issue resolved.
Also is there a list of problems and quick fixes somewhere where I can print them out and tuck next to the antiquated CD unit ?
Thanks in advance

Beggsy

Mine was installed a few weeks ago.
Quality is just acceptable.
More recently I've noticed the colored lines on the screen (electronically displayed) are not centered to the camera and are skewed to the right. What this means is if you 'follow' the lines in a reverse situation you will not end up square on. Hard to describe but annoying. Will see if others have the same issue.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi Everyone, this is my 1st post. Hopefully receive my JGC M14 Overland next week. (so the salesman says) I have a few questions and still trying to find myself around this site so sorry if I shouldnt be posting here. Here they are:

1. I have been given the VIN no and have tried looking up on the JEEP tracking site but says that the VIN / name does not exist. I think this was the US site. Is there one for Aus ?

2. I thought the Overland came with front tow hooks but reading this site it looks like it doesnt. Is this correct ? If so, is this a delaer installed option and what is a rough cost for these.

3. Does anyone recommend any aftermarket skid plates or are the Mopar ones the best way to go.

4. Are the 20" wheels OK for off roading ?

5. Are the rock rails similar to side steps ?

Thanks
