Russell, Noons, GForce and others. Yep this is the noise, except as you point out Russell, mine is continuous. I went for a drive this pm and it's definitely not brakes because I can break whilst not accelerating and the whistle continues. Also, like Russell, mine definitely seems to be in my right ear, not passenger side. Dom, yes it does happen when the revs are low, but I'm not sure that it only happens at low revs. I'll keep,an ear out. The vehicle is generally in eco mode and so 7th or 8th, but again I haven't tested that this is always the case. I suspect there are a lot of folks out there with this but because it doesn't seem to affect anything they, like GForce (and me to tell the truth), just put it down to a quirk of the vehicle. If this is the case perhaps we will find a dealer that will admit that they have heard of this "problem"?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

My my14 crd overland makes that intermittent high pitched noise also. years ago I had a pajero that made a similar noise, back then I thought it was air cond related. I could be way off the mark with that. need to do some tests with air cond off

One strange comment that SRT's have constant drive to the front wheels, but an Overland doesn't. Is this a quadra - track vs quadra-drive thing? Regardless, if true it is news to me that the drive to the front wheels (under highway conditions) is not something in the 40% - 60% range.
EDIT: Also, there is no update since early September.
Thanks,
Russell

I had a problem caused by the fact that the dealer had swapped my radio with that of a car he had in stock. This resulted in my radio not being mated to the car's VIN.
With help from other members, and especially from Willx, we got it resolved. According to Willx, unless the radio has previously been mated to another VIN, this problem will not occur.
Except for this issue, the whole update process took about 20 mins.
I can't speak highly enough of the service that these guys provide to premium members, and would encourage other members to subscribe to support them and to benefit from the additional info and services.
With respect to the new version, I haven't had a chance to examine it in detail, but make the following observations:
- there is a "mirror dimming" button on the "controls" screen, which does indeed dim the interior mirror - although I thought it was automatic anyway, so how useful this is, is yet to be experienced.
- an irritating characteristic before was when going from radio to another media and back to radio, it always went back to a blank FM frequency, rather than the AM station I had been listening to - that seems to be fixed.
- VR seems to be quicker, but that is a bit subjective
- VR for inputting navigation addresses is NOT fixed unfortunately
If I discover anything else I will post it.
Thanks,
Russell
Russell, you are lucky. I tried the same thing but no avail. I have the humble RB2 that came with the MY12 Laredo. It seems it has been forgotten about in terms of upgrading. I've downloaded various versions of upgrade software but after reading the file, the system just sits dormant. Any ideas?

Ask them to bend up bracket that holds 12 pin plug in place, or when you go to hook up caravan/trailer - you will find the u-bolt for safety chain wont fit. The spring loaded plastic cover that flips down out of way to lock both plugs together , sits over and covers hole where u-bolt is meant to go (been caught). You cant flip it over the other way, as hole cut in plastic bumper bar is not cut up high enough, and would look crap if any bigger. As for reversing camera - lines over picture are off centre to one side. Works ok through day , but when using at night is very poor/fuzzy picture. If no other lighting around(street lights etc)then it becomes useless, cant use it. I dont know why they are not using the same ones as in Limited / Overland ????

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Thanks lads. I saw that thread on the SRT having the issue, but assumed that it had to be something to do with the turbo, as it was a quite distinct whistle.

I haven't noticed it since, and I was driving it abit today.

My wheel alignment is way off due to some really rough offroading, so I'm thinking it might be related to that.

Hi Bob, While I haven't been looking at the Uconnect site, in the premium section there is no mention of RB2, even in Milhous' list of radio types by country (although he may only be listing for 2014 models). From what I've read, if new software doesn't match your radio, you get an error message, but I can't verify that. If you think you do have a version which should work, and you are not getting any message, the most common reason for that seems to be that you haven't extracted the .exe file to produce the .iso file, which is to be the only one on the USB stick.
Its possible that user installable s/w was not an option for your radio, but others may know that better than me. In any case, ask Willx - I'm sure he will know what the latest version for the RB2 is, and how to get it.
Russell

Noons, talking about really rough off-roading, do you have quadralift suspension, and if so, does it clunk and thump a lot over rocks in OffRoad 2? Mine does, and I think I had read about someone else complaining, but haven't found the thread again.
Thanks,
Russell
