Last night on the way home from taking our son to his swimming lesson, SWIMBO phoned home to report a totally new issue. The issues (all of them to date) seem only to happen to her, don't know why. Must be her alien powers or something.

The MY14 Laredo illuminated the parking brake light (parking brake reported as definitely off!) Parking brake/brake system warning light (next to it on lower right hand side of dash), ESC and ABS warnings (on left hand side of dash). To put the icing on the cake the speedo was reading Zero, Nada, Nothing whilst driving along.

Has anyone else experienced this?

To me this is far more than a niggling cruise control issue (discussed in another thread) or a frustrating wheel alignment issue (again previously discussed on this forum), this is a passenger safety issue that we have experienced as the built in safety features now seem to be having a CTRL/ALT/DEL/Reboot day as well

Car in for diagnostics tomorrow afternoon. Will report back.

Less than impressed.
Hi adriwood
I experienced this a few weeks ago but figured out the reason. Three times I have had some level of EVIC failure. The first two times were minor glitches which fixed with an engine restart. The third time all you experienced above happened and I freaked. Over the next couple of hours I restarted the motor a few times and it fixed itself - been fine since.
What I figured out is that each of those times I was overzealous applying the high pressure hose in the car wash (all these bugs come out in spring spoiling my new car) and had obviously affected all those damned sensors around the car. Once the great beast dried out and settled itself down, it went back to normal.
I have had no trouble before or after and I'm sure it was simply the car wash hose used too diligently and close to the car, particularly the front grill.
Think back if there was a similar occurrence with you (heavy rain, hail???)Cheers
Col

Thanks for the reply. Did you notice anything that made it improve in ECO mode, an update or did it just get better?

Cheers

Did not do anything except I am pushing it a little harder in ECO mode. Gear changing is more noticeable when I am driving in school zone at 40KM speed. While driving at 40 speed it tries to go one gear up then comes back to lower gear and keeps doing that. If not in ECO mode (in school zone) then stays in one gear and runs smoothly.

I've had my CG just under 2 weeks. It came with the reversing camera fitted. It works fine, but the lens is susceptible to dust and rain, so needs a wipe over on a regular basis.
Thanks Heaps Jarse !

Well as promised, the update.

Car went in today for its ECG and the results are:

Software fix applied for the climate control (warranty).
Software for radio still waiting on CJD Oz (warranty).
Diagnosis on total vehicle - Resulting in a defective ABS module (on order - will it arrive before Christmas?).

Maybe the cruise control issue and the brake warning lights etc. are all related as they all interface with the braking system at some point.

Regards

Adrian.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi
Just a simple question.

Most of the Laredos had the reversing cameras fitted after delivery by the dealer.
I had the sales manager of a big dealership admit to me that the camera is after market
and was fitted under contract because the real mccoy was'nt available.

This camera is crap and he was'nt aware of this and i felt that if the matter was pursued they may change it.
Has anyone else had any feed back on this?
Can the problem be rectified by a camera with better quality optics?
Is any one else disapointed in there reversing camera?

Elvin

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Had my Laredo crd 3 weeks now and still none available (rear view camera) to be fitted.
Got in touch with Customer Services today and told that my dealer had ordered mine as a matter urgency....................yesterday.
Funny that, I ordered my Jeep mid November last.
Took 10 months to get the damned thing and still incomplete!!
Did hear that the earlier cameras were of a poor quality.
At least they had them.

I just said match it to the back windows. It looks great, but the rear is 20% VLT and the front are 35%VLT which is the darkest you can legally go on the front windows. The important thing is getting it looking the same tint colour, which he did. Ben will look after you
