Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

G'day all,

Going through the mysteries of the UConnect system. Think I have I have it mastered now.
Going through the plush 2014 Grand Cherokee brochure, it mentions being able to display photos on the 8.4 screen via the USB ports as well as music.
Have got 20 of the cooks fave CD's on USB now and have put some photos on it.
Cant seem to bring up a menu command re the photos though.
I have a Laredo 4x4 with the 8.4inch screen.

Any thoughts on it out there?
I imagined the UConnect system was similar across the board except for navigation.

Thanks for any info.

I think that the non-US variants can't do it.

It is mentioned as a feature in the brochure, however like voice control it is not working.

I have a little green chequered flag that appears on the speedo near the 160K/h indicator. Can anyone tell me what this is for or what activates it. It is not present all the time - just appears every now and then.

Tried the VR for Air Con Temp, it works!!
Asked to set drivers side to 21 deg.. It did it. Asked to set passenger side to 18 deg followed by rear passenger to 25 deg and it did that too, I could feel the hotter air from the rear seat area ( no the wife was not on board).
So looks like this is one more thing to strike off the list.
PS: I didn't get a verbal response, but did see it respond on the screen in green text and saw the front seat temps change to what I asked for.

If we can set rear seat temperature via voice control, how do you do it manually?

No idea, nothing in the book. It was an interesting experiment, but in such a small confine what's the point of multiple temps.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

After it's Pacific cruise, my car arrived in Brisbane on 7 October and is now at the dealers. I have to inspect it to confirm it is what I ordered before they fit the extras. Could be an interesting discussion making sure they have the right reversing camera, towing loom, latest uconnect etc.

Been away for a couple of weeks and pulled into a free camp site to find the only vehicle already there was a 3 week old MY14 Laredo in billet silver - just what I've ordered although it did not have the air suspension but it did have an ECB bull bar.

Hopefully, I will get the new vehicle in a couple of weeks.

It appears our Jeeps were travelling companions as mine arrived in Brisbane on the 7th October as well. I am dropping into the dealers to have a look at it today. I have already emailed the dealer the the current TSB's and recall notice telling them that I would like the updates on the Jeep when I pick it up. I am going to discuss the towing wiring harness with them today.

What are thoughts on the ECB bullbar?

I have been told my new Jeep will be available for me to pick it up this Friday.

Warren

I have read that thread, and also I have physically seen the ECB bullbar, but not on a MY14 Jeep. So far from the pictures I have seen, the only one that I think looks half "OK" is the is the ECB bar.

My wife wants one because the bullbar protected the front our Pathfinder, when on a couple of occasions she has been the victim of couple reasonable size roos darting in front of her.

My personal veiw is that the front of the MY14 Jeep GC looks good, why make it ugly by adding a bullbar.

When I went to the dealer to have a look at our vehicle today I ask the service manager about the tow harness. He told me they only fit the MY14 harness. This one plugs into a socket in the vehicle harness with no splicing into existing wiring. They are also loading the latest UConnect updates. I will find out for sure on Friday when I take delivery.
