When I went to the dealer to have a look at our vehicle today I ask the service manager about the tow harness. He told me they only fit the MY14 harness. This one plugs into a socket in the vehicle harness with no splicing into existing wiring. They are also loading the latest UConnect updates. I will find out for sure on Friday when I take delivery.
It will be good to see if the loom plugs in. I have been told it dose not exist.
Please let us know.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Regarding the wiring loom for the MY14 towbar, i just recently bought a MY14 towbar to install myself in anticipation of when i take delivery of my car soon. Asked the salesman if the wiring is a plug 'n play connector or splice, he went away to ask someone from the service department (not the spare parts dept as it is the service dept that install them) and they confirmed with him that it is plug 'n play.
Got home with the towbar and checked out the package and noticed the wiring kit should be spliced into the wiring loom of the MY14 Grand Cherokee. The sticker on the wiring loom is shows:
Desc: GRAND CHEROKEE MY14 WK TWH
Batch #: 700A.22.07.13
LOT # F7596
MADE IN TAIWAN
PART #: AUS2014WKTBWL

The fitting instruction booklet (issue: 1.0 - 19/07/13) has a picture of a MY14 Grand Cherokee on the front page and is shown as MY14 GRAND CHEROKEE, KIT PART No: AUS2104WKTBWL, also shows on page 8 to connect each of the towbar wires with a splice terminal (supplied in kit) and solder the wires then cover the joint with heat shrink.

So i think that the plug 'n play version might not exist as i think that the Oz delivered MY14 does not have a connector ready to connect a towbar wiring plug into it. I do believe that the MY11-MY13 do have a seperate grey plug to connect the towbar harness plug 'n play style.

Maybe the service dept dude got mixed up with the info when answering the salesman, but i don't blame the salesman at all. I did however email the salesman to notify him of the info i found to supply factual info back to him.

Thanks for that. It appears we are off to a good start with b**ls**t from the service manager even before I take delivery.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Sorry guys but the ECB works for me, it looks better in real life, I agree if I didn't need a bar I would leave it as it is, but we all see things differently, the good thing is we have choices now thanks to ECB and uneek where we can have a bar and recovery points unlike others that are coming on to the market

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Thanks for the pictures A10-6. At least, from what ECB told me, the front bumber bar is not cut up to fit the bar, just the bottom grill is removed which makes it possible to remove it and the front would be back to original.

Shertim,
Is your bull polished or powdercoated? Also in your signature you mentioned a dual battery, where did you fit that?

Warren

Looks good to me, but looks great without it too. 4x4 show in Adelaide this weekend so I'm off to get some goodies.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi Warren
I went for the polished one, my second battery is located behind the right rear panel where the subwoofer lurks, Cruisinon one of the Jeep specialists over here came up with the spot after having a look around a friends jeep, I am very happy with it, as i wasn't sure what would fit, but he has done a great job, he has installed an optima yellow top in there, which runs the engel for days

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi All.....

First post here, I have been lurking in the ausjeepoffroad forum and also found some very informative posts by snuke on whirlpool that lead me here. I'm currently in a 2005 landcruiser sahara, but she is getting on a bit and just a bit too much to manage around town so looking to order a MY14 soon.

So far I'm thinking CRD limited with the ORAII and Quadra-Lift options, then might add a few bits after that. What prices are people paying for a CRD LTD? Adding up the published numbers with onroads in QLD suggest around $72k? I could go the Laredo those options for around $60k (going by the published numbers), that is a big difference, not sure I can justify $12k for leather seats and satnav......?

Also, can anyone recommend a dealership in the Brisbane area?
