For those of you with a Jeep on the TONSBURG, the ship is currently in rough waters just off Southport.

Not even close on price. Here in Point Lonsdale we paid AAMI $242.70 + $50 front windscreen (nil excess on glass) with $625 excess for our Ltd CRD with tow bar. Not sure I understand why, but it was $145 cheaper than the two year old Subaru Outback I traded.

Dealt with AAMI for a number of years, and have claimed for flood damage ( Melbourne) and a car claim when I was rammed while stationary. Easy to deal with, and satisfying results.

A bit closer now, with the cheque I received in the mail today. It was from Suncorp for $107 which is a 15% discount for having other policies with them.

So my total now is $494 - $107 = $387 for my CRD Limited with Tow and windscreen.

Seriously, you can't compare insurance between individuals - these days there are dozens on questions that change the outcome - is it garaged, used for travel to work, 5000km or 40,000km, booked in the last 5 years, lost license in the last decade, or at all. Some see a no fault accident as still an accident , rent a car, new for old, market value versus agreed, not covered off road, locked garage or driveway parking, can be driven by other drivers, under 30 drivers, business owned vehicle, registered business use.

It's a bloody minefield, So if you don't drive, live in a country town, have never had a speeding ticket, cycle to work etc it's probably $199 a year......

Fwiw, I'm somewhere over a grand and happy to pay it thx.

And slightly different tips, which I think I prefer. It was the one thing that bugged me about the other ones I listed, the tapered tip. I think these form to the door lines better.
I haven't seen these ones before Snuke. Pity they haven't got a picture on a vehicle to judge better.
I am still waiting for the sun to come out so I can wash the beast and take some photos from different angles. This may happen on the weekend .

Further to the insurance issue, my family have had a moment of truth with Shannon's. SIL has been effected by the bush fires and Shannon's have been hopeless in their response. So as a result I have reassessed my own insurance on my three cars and found that Shannon's are no longer competitive on price or inclusions so I've just changed my jeep and my wife's car to NRMA and saved a total of $600.

Same old story - shop around.

I rang Shannons on Monday and the desk jockey grilled me about wether I'm a motor enthusiast, what affiliations to car clubs I have, that they only insure motor car enthusiasts.
I told him not to bother & hung up. Tosser.

I wonder if you have to be somebody special to qualify for home insurance.

Getting closer to Port Kembla now, Bom only shows waves up to 2m at moment, gee you'd be pissed off if the ship got trashed by rough weather now only a few hours away and cars got written off lol !

Attached is the last know position for the vessel.

Hail storms were expected in SEQ, I wonder if they store the cars undercover after they unload the ship?
