I have replaced a highly modified GU Patrol and a VZ SS Thunder ute with an
MY2014 Overland, Black with black interior(I wanted white, she wanted black,
she won, she happy). Picked it up on Monday evening, only mod at the moment being the tow hitch. It is the CRD and I loove it. 350kms and counting, taking it for a run from Melbourne Vic to Beachport SA for the long weekend to see how it likes the sand.

I am one very happy 53yearold kid.

Thanks to all of you for the constructive input added to this thread as it sealed the deal for me.

Congratulations, you know, even with the problems listed here over the pages everyone still confirms this as a fantastic car. Its going to be interesting to read over coming months how our car has shot to the "top of the Sales" listings.....and SJANDL, I'm not too far behind you. Just past 3900km....and I still have that new car smell.

For people who want to look at the car, I am asking they don't leave the doors open too long, and avoid sucking in all the new car smell!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Not good enough RACV. I must consider cancelling my membership. Either that or they need a new judge(s)
I cannot understand how we did not make it as a finalist in 3 categories.
We did not get into the finalists for "Best SUV 45K to 65K...this should have been the Laredo.
We did not qualify for "Best LUXURY SUV over 65K.....for the life of me!
We did get nomination as a finalist for "Best All Terrain 4WD Under $100K"...Laredo got nominated.

Can you figure that out?????

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I hear the Tonsburg missed unloading all it's shipment in Port Kembla due to an issue with the unloading ramp, and those cars will now be offloaded in Perth, then shipped by road back to Sydney.

It seems they don't define it as a SUV. It is an all terrain 4WD. Maybe the 2WD Laredo should have been in the SUV sections?

Cars are generally held at Port Kembla no longer than a day, and usually trucked out within hours.
They go to Prix Cars at Minto where they are processed for Customs and Quarantine. That can take at least 2 weeks. After that they are either shipped to the dealer, or go to a distribution depot at Arndell Park.

Most car of the year awards define logic at the best of times.

But recently i saw on the TV and radio that some of the car clubs who make car awards seem to base them on what contracts for breakdown services they have from what car manufactures. In the past many awards can be on the face of the award being linked to the degree of advertising contracts.

Now i would think that my self but you may.
