Nice looking place too. I like to wood.

We are also going to have chrome side steps, so I wonder it is too much chrome.
See what the misses thinks.

These are the side steps on G6JETs car, actually I can see very clearly the tapered ends in this pic.

I was going to have sidesteps fitted but:
  1. When I spoke to Shannon at Werribee Jeep, he said he had them on his vehicle but did not actually use them to step onto. So, every time he alights from the car his trousers brush against the step --> very dirty trouser legs especially on a wet day.
  2. I think you are right - could be too much chrome with both.

I have side steps and never had dirty trousers. Stepping in or out of car is very easy.

Do you actually step on the steps though mate, or are they more a visual enhancement?

My reason for asking is genuine...I've played around with the thought, but have half concluded that the Grand isn't really high enough to warrant them. I do tend to run the suspension in the lower modes for daily driving. I also worry that step's brackets will reduce the clearance and I'll end up with one jammed up against the tyre or something. Seen this before... more than once.

As an aside, I've noticed that the visual part of the sill is a bolt on plastic trim and am thinking about taking them off before trips away... at least until I get used to having a mile less clearance! I'm doing less impromptu weekenders these days, and the thought of a bit of prepwork doesn't worry me so much. Has anyone imagery of what's underneath the plastic?

Cheers,
Steve

I don't really step on them. But, kids definitely need them.

I removed the plastic and took a photo for you.

Thanks for going to the trouble of doing that Ansamoiz... it's great when people actively contribute as you've done.

Cheers,
Steve

sorry, again.
Salmo mate, yes it rhymes but very sad, I think your are getting very desperate for your Jeep, bored or both. By the time my car finally gets to the nsw dealer, predelivery, shipped to melbourne rego etc, reckon you will see yours before me.

we have them on the Pajero, I'm 195cn so allways step over them, misses is 163cm and she steps over them too.
It has never been an issue getting dirt on pants, and we had a 200m dirt driveway with a sand arena located above our parking position so the vehicle was always getting very dirty. Now only 100m gravel driveway.

We don't want them as stem, more as door stoppers.
This another pic G6JET took, to show the protection they can offer.
Obviously it wont stop all doors to to angels and heights, but it is some help.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Colozzie, do they stick out all from the body work to offer a minor form of door stopping protection?

For some people like me you can never have to much chrome :-)

just got the dealer to install the summit chrome grille insert I ordered from mopar parts online and I think it looks great, just waiting on the chrome mirror caps to arrive and the look for me is complete
